Default D55 Fluttering?

When im driving around 70mph or so in 5th gear, rpms at 2200 or so,and when i press the gas half way,it starts to flutter around 18psi or so..it wont flutter if i go wot at 70 in 5th,just half throttle..I have a filter directly on the turbo(soon to be changed out)no exhaust leaks, and not sure about boost leaks, but holds 26psi till redline

can it be that the turbo makes almost full boost at 3k and starts to flutter?ive always had this problem, and really doesnt bother me that much since car has crazy overtaking power

The fluttering is a tiny bit of compressor surge caused by the BOV not opening all the way at that low of manifold pressure. That is not enough to hurt the turbo, as long as it blows off under full boost at WOT

Funny this just came up in a few threads in the past 2 days. I saw some surge in lower rpms too, WOT in 4th at 2500 and it surges, any rpm less than 3k in 5th it surges.

Like Jon said tho, i dont think its anything to worry about, just dont load it up so badly. But its part of the reason I am considering a larger exhaust housing.
