Default Possible viper harness slot substitute

While browsing another forum, a discussion came up about restoring Recaro seats. A member posted up a site for a company in the UK that sells parts for Recaro seats, and what do you know...they have harness slots in black plastic.....and they look like they could work. Anyone try it? Has to be better/ cheaper than the price brawls over ACR seats.

Capital Seating and Vision > Seating, Vision and Accessories for Hardworking Environments

and here are the ones in the Evo8

hey, i thought I'd share as not everyone has the deep pockets for the factory stuff, and not everyone is comfortable with epoxy's around upholstery (CBD replica's)

The Evo8 one's look like they will work. They also snap in place unlike my CBD ones. For that low of a price, you could buy one and make sure it is deep enough to go through the seat. Then you can follow gdflys how-to for installation. Should work fine!

exctly..not everyone is comfotable using epoxy's near fabrics and the install is pretty much permenent, can't upgrade to leather later on.

i think the other set will work as well

Yeah, the stock vipers also snap into place...damn CBD.

The first set might work but the lip is very small. You might want the bigger lip to hold back the fabric.

to make exact copies of the vipers would require injection molding..and ofcourse the tooling.....

they did the best the could with what they had. compromises were made in an effort to deliver a product that was cost effective

I hear you. That's why I rushed out and bought a set when they came out. I'm happy with my CBD slots because they look authenic (like a viper) and I'm able to pass my harnesses through when I go to the track.

It will be interesting to see how these slots fit. I think it would be worth your time to do the mod...especially if you will be using harnesses.

If you decide to do it, please let me know how it turns out. I also have the link to gdflys original how-to that has been removed. Let me know if you need it.
