Yes, I'm too lazy to quote all the posts I am replying to.
That plasti-dipped car looks like a stealth bomber. If the OP wants to plasti-dip parts of his car let him. All you commenting on money are completely missing the point. Using plasti-dip is far cheaper than carbon fiber, so he is doing exactly what you're saying in that he's doing the cheaper method. Anyone that thinks a neon is an investment seriously fooling themselves. Calling someone stupid and flaming them for doing something they want to do that you don't like is no better than the children that get medals for showing up. This is one of the things I love so much about this forum. If I am ever questioning my decision to save money for retirement I just have to spend a few minutes on here reading and taking in the incredible intelligence of the next generation and I know I've made a very good decision, and I'm only 31. Good to know that you also agree the OP is stupid....

I don't think the OP is stupid, who the hell are we to tell him how he can mod his car, OP just prepare to take a lot of shit from ppl, but at the end of the day its still your car, your decisions!

As much as 80k sucks I think it's pretty typical these days with tuition payments going up and federal aid going down. And with the fact that a bachelors degree doesn't carry as much weight as it used to people are having to pay their way through multiple degrees.

well then what should i do to get the carbon fiber/ black look on my hood roof and trunk ? vinyl of what?
My roof and trunk are vinyl carbon wrapped. The rest of the car is 3M matte black. If I woulda done it myself i wouldn't have added any carbon vinyl wrap and woulda just stuck with the matte black. The carbon wrap wears out much faster than the matte black around the corners of the roof too. Save yourself the trouble and just buy a real carbon fiber trunk lid. Edit: and that carbon wrap is a BITCH to clean bird shit off of. It's nigh impossible in a rush.

Maybe it's just me, but every Plasti-dipped car I've seen up close has crazy amounts of chips in the paint. I guess it just comes down to having the look of carbon-fiber or having actual carbon-fiber.

So whats dumber painting your car with plastic dip or rustoleum..I know for sure that no autobody shop is gonna touch your car after you've done either of these things and if they do they arent gonna do it cheaply.
Maybe i'm wrong but does plastic dip come off easily with out any residue .Havent used it in years and only for small parts.LIKE IT WAS INTENDED!!!!!! |

Depends on how much plasti they are using, the plasti on my tools after being dropped and banged around hasnt even chipped! So either the cars youve seen don't have enough or their owners suck ass at coating evenly!
