Default Painting shift ball??

I was wondering if anyone ever tried to paint the indents on the stock shifter ball (the gear #s) maybe to a body color matched color or maybe a dark slate gray like the interior..heres a pic, has anyone done it before?

If so, you would need to be precise with a paintbrush and what paint/clear would you use?

i would think the cleanest way would be to just go ahead and fill the indents in with what ever paint you are using and not worry bout being neat.wait fo it to tack up and then take some fine sand paper and sand the remaining paint off of the shift ball.thats how i would/have done things like that.would work fine as long as you want the shift ball to stay unpainted

edit;and if you use the dealer touch up brushes it is a single stage paint, so no worrys bout clear coat

I did that some time ago, and with my previous car,

Used normal paint, (nails also works), and touch up should be a perfect match.

You don't have to worry about making a mess, buy a fine brush, and get a paper towel, since they are indents, when you wipe, the outside will be gone, and paint in the interior, no need to sand anything

I also did the airbag sign in front of passenger for a little color inside

I used a toothpick to paint mine. I did the "H" part black and the numbers red since I have a red and black theme outside. It looks sharp and like mentioned before you can just wipe the outside, no need to sand.

Easiest way to do this:

All you need is a crayon and some fire

Drip crayon melted drops onto the top of the knob and peel off the excess and only inside the letters will be the color of the crayon...

people do this all the time

SWorks, put it into 3rd gear, grip it by putting your palm flat on the ball and your pointer and ring finger on the sides (kinda like a fork, they should be close to the stick and under the shifter ball) then downshift into 2nd while pulling up and back on the ball, its sure to come off into your hand

lol or just shift from fist to second with your fingers under the ball and it'll fly off haha. j/p...try what gt5oh said, it will pop off. that ball probably never came off before so it's on there pretty good still
