Wetsand with 400 grit, and use a decent basecoat like SEM or Mopar in black, and then a good spray can clear coat like UPOL Clear No.1. It has the highest gloss you can get from a spray can while being UV protected (most spray cans are not).

Use 3M fineline tape to mask it off properly. Right before you spray, clean with wax/tar/grease remover or dawn (or anything similar). Then spray two to three coats of base and two coats of clear.

Spark got it right use SEM satin black trim paint and 400 grit. Any left over your a/b/c pillars will love it. SEM costs a little more but well worth it. Resto shops use it.
