Are you talking directly powder coat the engine, or the Engine BAY? I haven't seen a powder coated engine, but I have seen a trans, looked sexy too.
Anyways if you talking about things in the engine bay, you could do mani, valve cover, colored wires and a few other things.
Also I have heard of a nice looking engine, but a fast looking one. If you want it to look fast just put stickers on it, thats what the ricers do around here when they want their cars to look fast, it doesn't even have to be car part stickers, through a cell phone sticker, ruffles or peace sign or anything, more stickers faster look.

you see that little thing that kinda looks like a period, but it's got a hook thing at the bottom? its called a COMMA!!
THAT means he wants a fast engine, ( <-- notice the comma ) BUT he wants it to look good too!

Actually I wasn't trying to make fun of him at all, It was a general comment towards ricers in general. Nice try though.

is this what you are thinking? i did all this stuff for a guy on here. if you want to do it yourself you will need a gun, air compressor, sand blasting cabnet, some powder a dedicated powder coating oven (not the one in your kitchen) and lots of practice. check out eastwood.com. your looking at a 500.00-1000.00 dollar investment. or just pay someone like me to do it all for ya. if you decide to go for it and do it yourself let me know i'll do everything i can to help you learn the tricks it is not easy to do.
I have to say that is dead f-ing sexy..
I've been playing with the idea of going with a chrome and blue scheme for my engine..
Chrome pretty much all the pipes and then everything else would be blue (rubber connectors, hoses, filters, etc etc etc)
