I am thinking of vinyl wrapping my srt. I know a few people have have done some wraps. I plan on doing mine at home and wanted to know if any one has done there at home to took there car some were to get wrapped. If they did it a home about how many square feet did you need to do the whole car?
Chris if you have perfect paint. Just don't do it. When I bought my car every single panel had a ding, or a crease, or something, and the paint looked like a litter of kittens was born on top of the car with iron nails. I had to repair all the dents and decide. 3k on paint or 400 on vinyl.
I envy the clean look that perfect srt4s have, I want nothing more in the world than an eblue with acr stripes... But they also get butthurt about me having race car stance. So its all perspective.

Ill quote myself in my own signature. I'm just an arrogant srt4 owner like that.
Also I wear my flatbill hat backwards and listen to only terrible techno.
I have been thinking about wrapping the roof of my nsrt. I have an OB with a carbon hood and a black trunk. What do you guys think I should use to wrapping it? A black carbon fiber or just black??
dude that litter of kittens thing was absolutely hilarious. dont get me wrong. I LOVE my paint. but i dont love the multiple tickets it has gotten me. a few cops have told me "damn if your car wasn't bright red, i probably wouldn't have seen you.
If im going to do vinyl, ill do it right. Im all about the clean look.
I mean hell, my paint is like glass.
This was after one of my accidents, I had to rewrap the driver side door. Turned out perfect though. It also took me 2 hours to do outside in the parking lot too. Like the last guy said, 3M 1080 is very very forgiving. You can peel the shit back off and smooth it out with your little card tool and get rid of any crinkles or anything. I have a 45x5ft roll of matte black sitting next to my x-mas tree right now. Gotta re-do mine because I got some wax all over it from the car wash and I didn't realize it. Left it for a few weeks and it's completely ruined. Also it's starting to really peel off around the edges and shit. This is an old wrap though, it's been on the car for probably 3+ years, and has only recently been f'd up. I left it outside for 6 months while I was on deployment.
Myteluze, thanks for posting. You were my inspiration for the project. I loved the way your car looked so much I had to replicate it. I saw what happend to your door in a thread that was never resolved, but glad to see she's looking good!
My brother does wraps on cars and I've done several myself.
How easy it will be depends on the quality of material you use. For the best material, be prepared to spend a few grand to do a full wrap. If you are doing it yourself, go to "Fellers" website or find a Fellers dealer and browse around. 3M, Avery, and Orafol make the best material, you just have to make sure you use WRAP material (it has channels built into the adhesive back so you can work air bubbles out even after it has been laid, it can also peel off and stick back on several times) DO NOT USE CHEAP STANDARD VINYL. You need a heat gun, a squeegie (spl), some razor blades, and lots of patience.
It is very simple to remove (especially the good stuff), and if you have problems, 3M makes a wheel that fits into a drill that you can use to take the vinyl off WITHOUT hurting or even scratching the paint.
Wraps are awesome and a lot cheaper, plus it would protect your paint in the meantime. Just my .02
Where would be the best place to buy some carbon fiber vinyl from cause I'm thinking of wrapping my hood soon. Just want to know of a good place with responsible prices. Thanks
The carbon fiber 3m stuff only comes in a 60" width x 75 ft. It's almost $1300 for a roll. Whereas the solid matte and glosses are about half that per roll. I might still wrap my SRT in the dark metallic grey, nothing's worse than speeding in Flame Red.
Yes there is.. Speeding in Flame Red in SO CAL. I want to wrap mine soooo bad, but dont have the cash to do it.. my ACT HDSS3 clutch should be here today. -$900
