Default carbon fiber question

Hey all. I have a CF hood, trunk, and eyelids that I have had for about 3 years now, and the clear coat on them is really starting to look like sh*t. I've heard that you can restore the look if you have them sanded down and have more clear put on them. Is this true? I want them to look to as close to new as possible, but not sure if I can.

Also, someone told me that they might look good if I put some blue pearl in the clear when I do get it done. My car is E-Blue. Has anyone ever put pearl on top of CF before? I was just wondering how it would look. It sounds like a good idea, but I'm afraid if I had it done I might not like it.

youd be ok if your just looking at refreshining the clear yes you can sand it down but be cautious of how far you sand down because you may hit the carbon. But yes you can re clear. The yellowing is the resin which you cant fix by reclearing.

Just as was said above. If your clear coat has sun faded (and most do), you can sand it and reclear it for a like new finish. Just don't sand too much--if you hit the CF weave, you will destroy it. Some yellowing can be cured with a good reclear.

I've recleared several hoods and trunks because most do not come with nearly enough UV Resistant Clearcoat. With every new piece of CF I get, I go ahead and add a few more coats of clear before I even install the part, to insure a long life and the ability to sand and reclear with ease.
