Default bfmic owners, question about mesh

Just got the bfmic in and I am going for install either tonight or tomorrow...How many of you guys mounted them with the stock mesh and how many mounted without the mesh...I live in PA so I am leaning towards leaving the mesh in for a little added protection from all the road debris in the winter....Opinions and pics comparing the two would be greatly appreciated....

I'm in the exact same situation... we'll be putting in both our FMIC soon... she wants to kill the mesh on hers and I wanna keep it. Some input would help...

i have the mesh from modern performance. i would never run my car without some type of screen. Why spend $300+ on a fragile part and take away something that was there to protect it? seems dumb to me, and a waste of money for the intercooler.

My mesh has saved my fmic from many a rock and debris, and not a single fin is out of place.

I wanted the best of both worlds open concept and protection so...... I put a screen mesh on the core only. I placed tiny spacers (3/16"-1/4") so it would be far enough off the intercooler to stop debris, rocks, bugs etc.

This way the screen doesn't cover the whole front end, makes it look almost like there is nothing there.

I am not sure how to post pics, but if someone wants to host them for me I could show you what I mean. I just bought a universal mesh for like $25 and cut it to size.

Looks sweet IMO!

get some of that chickenwire lookin mesh. you can still see through it from far away and it looks like u got nothing there, cuz theres so many small holes in the mesh it makes it almost invisible

Thanks a bunch for all of the opinions....I just finished the bfmic install and decided to leave the mesh in....just too much sh*t on the road around here....I like the look of no mesh, but with the mesh isn't bad, and it is a little extra protection....Like the one member said, why put a $300+ piece of aluminum in harms way....The fmic looks great and install took about 2.5 hours total and that is with drilling mounting holes in the damn brackets and mounting the Pwerks crash bar....

gutter mesh helps greatly with rocks, but to each his own!

And in my sig you cant tell. But you will want the gutter mesh for rocks in due time
