Default running hot?

I was wondering what the normal operating temp was on the SRT-4? I was running my car yesterday with the AC and the temp went above the 200 mark about 210-215! Should I buy a different thermostat? It seems that is too hot, where can I buy one? I checked modern but they only sell OEM thermostats, thanks!

I believe the normal op temp is between 190 and 210 however 215 isn’t so bad given conditions. you said AC was on, im assuming a hot day. And you probably hit it when you were still or rolling slow. Plus if your car is the black one on the pic a black hood radiates the heat bad. SO i would think your cool with that temp. nothing to worry about if you go much higher maybe raise an eye brow.

yeah mine hits 210-215 on hot days. check your coolant level and is it boiling the overflow when you shut the car off at full temp? If so replace your radiator cap.

Welcome to SRT world....normal! To cool things down (not just in the car) turn on your AC. It's linked to your radiator cooling fans. When I'm stuck in traffic, I'll turn the AC to help bring temps down.

Are you sure? I know it the completely opposite way. Open the windows, turn the fan on full power and full heating. That will bring the heat away from the motor through your car and out the windows. you will sweat, but not the car...

180 tsat is the way to go. Then look up in the How to for the Fan Mod. Only a switch and wire going to fan soleniod. I just have mine on all the time. Is cool for the track cause you can have car off with key to on position and the fan just runs. I never go above 180 except for at the end of a run at the strip, but by the time i make it back around to staging lanes it is back to 180.

Doing that mod is asking for trouble unless its just adding an option to turn the fan on when you want AND having the sending unit control the fan. I can already see someone forgetting to turn their fan on and hitting a stau.... next thing you know they'll need a new head.

If you dont have the switch on the soleniod will still turn it on. just gives you the option to turn it on when it wouldnt normally be on. But i just always have mine on

You're speaking old school...the car industry got smart a few years ago and linked the a/c demand with the cooling fans on most cars. Turn your car on when the engine's stone cold, then turn your A/C on....you'll notice the fans both jump into action.
