AAFES screwing us...Do something about it..

Okay people..All Soldiers and Airmen..
Are you pissed off at the always sudden changes in cost through AAFES?
Are you pissed off that around $.05 more you can just go off post and purchase fuel..
A little something I found out about AAFES that is not known and they will not tell you..AAFES says they base the fuel prices on the national average in the States..But the part they dont tell you..Is the national average they base it off includes "STATE" and "FEDERAL" taxes..WE DONT PAY TAXES ON PRODUCTS..One of the benefits of serving..
Im asking all to contact their State Congressman and let them know how we are getting screwed over here by AAFES..And I would suggest also going to ICE and file a complaint also against AAFES..You have to go to your Garrison website and go to the bottom of the page and ICE is at the bottom..
Were passing this around down here in the Ansbach area and we would like to see it spread around..Maybe and hopefully someone will listen..
When you go to the ICE report..You have to go to OTHER to complain against the AAFES FUEL..Funny how thats not in their..

Oh, I can't stop the tears. Sorry for beeing sarcastic but how much are you paying for gas? You know the german gas prices? I pay ~60 eurocents taxes for every Liter.
Maybe it is part of the SOFA or whatever that you have to pay some federal taxes?
I think it is "german" gas and someone wanna have his money for it. Germany don't has big companys in the OPEC states, we have to buy the oil for hard cash.

Are you really sure that you don't have to pay ANY taxes as long as you stay in Germany?
On one hand you pay american taxes for the products that you buy in the armystores (BX?). And if you buy something in Germany that you don't wanna export you have to pay german sales tax like everyone else. I don't think that you can buy everywhere in Germany "tax free".
And thats the same with the gas.
You don't have to pay all german taxes on it (be happy about it!!) but the gas company has to pay german sales tax for the gas to the german contractor.

What do you wanna tell your congressman?
"Hey stopp fighting for your other voters. Start fighting for me that i can buy the gas very cheap to make 300km/h on german autobahn just for fun!"

Thats just it.... We are military and are supposed to be afforded certain privileges for volunteering to do our job. No tax is one of those priveleges. We don't pay tax on post for anything we buy. We don't have to pay tax on anything we buy off post as well.

Now as far as this being AAFES screwing us... I don't know. Someone along the line before had to have thought of this so I'm not really sure how to take it. Either way I still feel like I benefit because I don't have to pay the prices the Germans do.

Yep, the damn AAFES machine! Sounds like a Rage Against the Machine song! I agree, and this has been under much debate for numerous years. I believe the prices and unexplained hikes in gas prices are B.S., and someone is seeing the profits somewhere.
Oh and sorry for you Lego, paying that much for gas, but Orange is trying to come up with a solution to the problem, if you dont like your prices then try and figure a constructive way to fix it, maybe through your government, through protest, through correspondence, etc. If you don't like it dont knock on someone else trying to fix it. Stand up and do something about it.

Hey Lego..Sorry for you and all German's having to pay that much for fuel..But thats your Socialist Goverment..Not mine..If you dont like it..Fight to have it changed and lowered..But then you wont be able to have those high taxes to pay for that free National health care..And that sweet unemployment to sit on your butt and not work..
Us American's dont sit idley by and just let things happen as they do in Europe..Us US Military people are afforded this luxury for serving our country..

Its really not all that... I will continue to pay AAFES prices currently 1.03 $ per liter for SUPER PLUS!!! And let everyone who wants to boycot go off post and pay 1.35 E per liter. THATS 2.07 $ PER LITER have fun

Hey Jason - 1.35 for super plus? In Berlin we are at 1.49 Euro at the moment. For super. Super plus is 1.55 i think. That sucks...

$1.07 per liter on base thats what? $4.04/gal.....thats what you would be paying here vs $7.82/gal if you went off post. To put it in perspective...we can get 100octane at $7.50/gal here in certain parts....

AAFES is nothing more than a legal Monopoly. They get their gas at TAX-FREE prices but price it exactly the same as off base prices if not even higher. I wished that Wal-Mart would have won that bid to replace AAFES years ago.

The point is..Under some agreements with the German Government we dont pay German Federal taxes..But we do pay German State taxes(Depending on what german states your in)
Plus mine and others complaints of AAFES is'nt just fuel..Some units here in Germany are in area's that dont have much..Im in Ansbach and our PX is tiny..But if you go to Balad,Iraq..Their PX is 4 times larger..And have more than us..Their excuse is..DRIVE TO GRAF..
