Just reading threw all the great info here and wanted to mention that S&P stocks both the air conditioning pullys for removing the AC and air bag removal kits for the passanger bag, complete with resistor to keep the dash lights off. Happy to help people reach there wieght loss goals.

Once you tackle all the free things, removing the ac is probably the best bang for the buck in terms of dollar/weight ratio...You lose a major ammenity...The battery is also a pretty good bang for the buck and one won't notice a difference...

Do you have a direct link, or a Part # and price on the AC bit. I took one of the hoses out in a little incident with a not so little concrete barrier. Might as well pull the whole system.

Ah.. I think what I heard was the Hotchkis rear sway bar is lighter than all of the other aftermarket sways.
Sounds right...OmniPhil just needs to get his hands on all other sway models so he can weigh them on his calibrated scale...
This is corect but the Hotchkis rear is lighter than as of the other big rear bars so it's still the best upgrade for suspension but yes you take a little hit compared to the stock bar

I agree with you that it is the BEST upgrade...
If you want save some money, the best bang for the buck would be the ACR rear sway and poly bushings...

I was thinking the same thing. That the ACR 19mm bar can't weight much more than our stock bar and i bet it is lighter than the Hotch. When you realy think about it the sway bars set lower on the car than most anything so added wieght there is not going to effect the car much if at any. It is the weight up higher, like the a/c condinsor and air bags that kill a cars handling. Not to mention sun roofs. The sway bar is also considered mostly unsprung weight since it connects to the LCA and that is all unsprung weight so saving a few pounds there will not change anything.

actually, both of the cheapy sways are noticeably heavier than their stock counterparts. At least when i was carrying them around and under the car I could tell which was which.

I have to disagree here. The stabilizer bar is mostly sprung mass. Any mass between the cushions is sprung mass. A large portion of the material outside of the cushions is also sprung. Stabar links and fasteners are totally unsprung.
That wasn't my main issue though. Saving unsprung mass is HUGE!!! Less unsprung mass allows the dampers to more finely control that mass. In other words, less mass equals better wheel control equals better tire interface to the ground more of the time which results in more grip. Don't beleive me? Put a set of heavy wheels and tires on your car. Drive it around for a few hundred miles, or spend a week driving it back and forth to work. Then put some lightweight wheels and tires on. The ride quality will improve significantly, because the dampers have an easier time controling the unsprung mass.
