Default UPDATE: SRT-4 reclass from CSP to DSP

This came up in another thread where I assumed the move was a done deal. However, there's been no mention of this reclass (that I could find) in any FASTRACs since the initial request for member feedback and SPAC recommendation in the July edition. I just sent the following email to seb@scca.com:

(SEB reference #07-291)

"Doug Gill and the SEB,

I cannot see any reference to a conclusion to this member request for reclassing the Dodge SRT-4 from CSP to DSP in any FASTRAC since July. Was this move approved? I did see that a similar car, the Mazdaspeed 3, was recently classed in DSP (January ’08). Please, advise the membership on the status of this request.

Sincerely,

Steve Wynne
#66 DS-Oregon Region
Member #263974"

I'll also post on sccaforums and let y'all know anything I hear.

Thanks! I'll be waiting to hear a response. If it gets reclassed I'll actually spring for R-comps instead of running in the street tire pax class locally. This wouldn't happen until next year, correct?

I think they approved the move and forgot to post it. We did get the request in in time to be part of the '08 season so, if it was approved we better be able to run in DSP this year. I guess, time will tell...

I really do hope this is approved. I already battle miatas and crx's in csp with my RX-7 and now with my SRT-4. I rather do battle in DSP on any day.

Hm... I was under the impression that the SRT-4 has already been reclassed to DSP. I'll have to ask again.

Please, ask the SEB!

I wrote my email a week ago and left a voice mail with Doug Gill and posted on SCCAForums where I know a bunch of SEB/SPAC members lurk. No response so far.

I just called and got a hold of Doug Gill at SCCA HQ. He's going to make sure this reclass gets on the top of the list for the next meeting of the SEB but I don't know if it can be completed for the '08 season or if it will have to be for '09. None of the minutes and discussion he saw in his notes had any concerns or problems with the reclass so it should happen. I just hope it is valid for this season, though.

Oh no! I think it was Gimp who started this off last year and I just think it's a great idea to reclass the car in SP. I'd also like to have it reclassed from STU to STX, too.

Hey, I tried to put in a good word for you and your car over on SCCAForums but man, sometimes I think I'm a thread killer when I open my keyboard. Although, I'd hate to see you part ways with the car as it would be neat to meet up at Nats again to see if we can kick bootie.

Well, I think Chrysler just canned any ideas of nationals. Hell, I may have to cancel my whole freaking national schedule. The idiots in charge decided to force us to take 2 of our weeks of vacation July 7th-18th. And lucky me, I have a family vacation for my third week that just happens to fall the week after the 2 week forced vacation. So boom, just like that, all my vacation is used up.

I'm going to try to convince my bosses otherwise, but I don't know that I'll have any luck.

I'm also still interested in selling the SRT-4. I had planned to sell it to fund other projects, but seeing how crappy the economy is for an automotive engineer these days, I probably ought to just put the money saved from car payments into savings. We'll see what happens.

I'd like to see STU to STX also. I don't think we can be competitive in STU with EVO's, STI's and M3's. I think with equal drivers, the STI will beat us every time.
