Hugh Stewart finished 15th at the first race of the world-challenge season, 3r racing gets a 20th, and woodhouse finishes 23. I think this is one of the best finishes in the series for the srt-4 and its only the first race of the season.
yeahh but hugh started 31 after a horrible week full of problems and that car never complited a lap the hole week.he also got the hardcharger award for passing the most cars
i saw that the 3r racing SRT4 qualified but didnt finish...what happened?
good job and congrats to mr bob woodhouse for finishing 3rd in his class!
i'll be able to chat to all 4 teams in person when they come to my hometown in a couple of weeks
No, we are not running this year. But, there are some GREAT teams running the SRT4 this year and they will do very well this season.
Congrats to Hugh for the Hard Charger award for going from 31st to 15th!!! The 3R car driving by Dan Aweida qualified 20th and finished 19th (the other 3R car was the Focus driven by Rob Holland which suffered a mechanical at the start). The Woodhouse car driven by Brian Smith qualified 23rd and finished 22nd. And, not sure, but it doesn't look like the Hal Brown SRT4 showed up at all, but hard to say from the online results.
Stay tuned to the rest of the season for some great results and performances by these drivers in a fantastic series!!! Wish I was out there with them!
Rick
PS: A huge congratulations to Bob Woodhouse on his 3rd place finish. I was watching the online timing and my co-workers were trying to figure out why I was jumping up and down and yelling at my computer as he moved from 5th to 4th and then 4th to 3rd. Super job Bob!!!

Kudos, Hugh! Saw this in the results listings:
"Hugh Stewart, of Massapequa, N.Y., won the Sunoco Hard Charger Award at Sebring, finishing 15th in the No. 22 Speedtechnik Dodge SRT-4 after starting 31st."

Not sure what happened to Brian Smith. I saw he was around 13-14th, and then the next lap showed in the low 20s. It seemed like he was doing great early on, moving up 7 or 8 spots before the drop to the 20s.

Just a quick update on Sebring. We will have two "through the windshield" reports to post tomorrow.
First, great job Bob! A nice smooth, consitent and smart race with a sweet pass for third. Also, Hugh did a good job after a rough few days to come home in 15th.
The Woodhouse.com/Kicker/Viosport SRT-4 had a hard week. We had several issues but the biggest was that we were lacking power all week until the race. We qualified terrible due to power, wrong air pressures and a oups through turn 17. The power issue was mostly corrected for the race and I had a great start passing 4 or 5 cars by turn 1. We passed several more cars in the first couple of laps and were up to around 14th. It was looking promising for at least a top 10 finish (the car was too loose in the first few laps, but came in nicely). However, we blew an intercooler hose ... and we lost a few ponies. So, we finished the race but way off the pace.
The good news is that we have the car handling well ... not perfect, but suprisingly good. If the power issue is resolved which it should be I am feeling good about St. Pete.
I will post the full reports tomorrow. Thanks for the interest. If anyone is going to be at the St. Pete race stop by and visit with us. Also, heard that Naykid had a good outing in the Dodge Vipers in T1.

Yea, it almost hit me by the fence... "guy wearing SRT4 hat gets hit with SRT4 tire " sounds like a good print..
I'll see you guys at the next race. Hope both WSC races are on the same day, I'm not keen on the indy car things, I just want to see the WSC races... Last year was fun.
Anyone got some info on what type of restrictions SCCA places on the SRT4s to keep them "competitive". A jetta guy told my buddy his car made over 500hps before restrictions at sebring, but said they restricted the cars power a lot... Hard to watch all the turbo cars being punished for being faster, but that's racing I guess.
The SRT-4's have to run a sealed motor from Dodge and we have a restrictor. Power is probably in the 250hp range. The Jetta seemed to have good power, but I would guess the 500 even before restriction is on the optimistic side.
Qualifying for both classes will be on Saturday around 11 and the GT race is Saturday afternoon around 4. The TC race is Sunday around 12. Stop by and see us if you come out.
