Default For those running Wilwoods

I had been looking for something to help me do quick brake pad changes since "spreading" the pads can be a pain. I had seen a very expensive brake pad spreader for Brembo's that would have worked but weren't worth the $300.

Then, while searching ebay, I came across this eBay Motors: Disc Brake Pad Spreader Tool Mercedes,VW,BMW,Ford,Honda (item 170204918273 end time Jun-24-08 00:06:56 PDT)

I bought one and just used it at a track event and it worked great. Thought I would pass it on. Mods and others, I am not the seller of this product nor have any stake in its sale. Just wanted to pass this on to others.

Is it wide enough to catch all 4 pistons at once? What are the "pads" made of? I do a lot of HOT brakes and if it's plastic, it may not last too long.

Usually I just use the pad to push back the pistons. Turn it sideways and do one at a time. It's a little bit of back and forth, but it works in about 30 seconds per caliper.

1) It is made of metal so no problems with the heat.

2) What I do is leave the pads in, put the pad spreader "inside" making sure I catch both the inboard and outboard pad lip and then just turn. It pushes both pads backwards compressing all 4 pistons. You could also remove the pads but it would only push 2 pistons in at a time (either upper or lower..1 on each side). It is not wide enough to push all 4 back.
