Default Stiffer rear-end for AutoX??

Why would a stiffer rear spring/cartridge (shocks) be better for autocross?

Is a stiffer rear sway bar not enough?

upper rear control arms?

Thanks,
more questions will be brewing

what are you trying to fix? just cause someone says something is better really depends on how you use their change compared to them. If you are trying to fix a certain aspect of the car OR are trying to induce or enhance a certain aspect... then we can work on that. =]

in fairness to your question tho:

stiffer springs would decrease body roll while helping to deal with squat.

A lot of people use huge sway bars to mask the wrong spring rates and huge spring rates to cover up crappy valving.

you need to start with a shock (strut) selection and find out from the MFG as to what spring rate that model is valved for and performs the best with.

Then get those springs.

from there you start with only a rear bar and get that sized properly and working for you THEN the front bar if needed.

IMHO .02$ (standard disclaimer) etc etc

cool. So far, I have BC standard coilovers with a 6k front/ 4k rear springs. Also with Hotchkis sways front/rear. rear is at stiffest settings.

I called BC about 2 months ago and they said that going with a 6k rear spring will not need to get the coilover revalved, but an 8k spring will need to get a new cartridge.

I was just wondering if a stiff rear bar and a stiff rear spring will induce more oversteer capable for AutoXing.

i dont know that you want a stiffer rear spring AND stiffer sway bars.. but yes that would induce a almost insurmountable amount of oversteer after it let go. I think I would go budget and get rid of any camber its loosing back there. i think that would induce an oversteer yet maintain suspension compliance so you can stick rubber to road when you need to.
