Default SCCA SoloII STU NON-ACR question

Car:
2004 SRT4 (non-acr)
only mods: race seats and harness (due to the fact that all sports car designers are 5'2")

I am looking at camber and it seems the only way I can get good negative camber is to go with a coil over with an adjustable hat. I like the megan coil over with its low price and camber adjustablility.

Can anyone who fully understands the SCCA rulebook and has some experience with the STU class give me a reason not to buy the Megan setup or possibly suggest a less expensive route to negative camber? As read it, it seems that in STU we can use coilovers that have adjustable camber.

Let me know your thoughts.

COs are definitely allowable, if not a must. STU is tough. I was lucky enough to have minimal participation in my region to finish 2nd one season.

Here's a quick and dirty guide to what's allowed. Not sure if it's up to date.

2nd place is not bad considering who could have shown up for the STU class.

Not being able to grind the lower mounts on non-ACR's really inhibits the car and burns down tires fast.

It looks to me that 14.8.J specifically allows slotting of the clevis bracket, or other changes, for all strut cars in STx. From page 76 of the 2008 Solo Rulebook:

"J. On strut-equipped cars, the strut’s lower integral mounting
bracket, for attachment to the upright or spindle, is unrestricted
provided it attaches to the stock location. Any resulting change
to the position of the strut centerline is allowed. Such brackets
shall serve no other purpose. This does not allow for changes to
the integral steering arm on cars that have the steering arm
integrated with the strut body."

Even without that allowance, you could use camber bolts to get some more camber within the stock mounting holes (14.8.G).

Further in that section: "K. Changes in alignment parameters that result directly from the
use of the allowed components are permitted..."

I was on the STAC when this section of the rules got started and the whole idea at the time was to permit other methods of camber adjustment besides coil-overs and camber plates on top of the strut.

Exactly

In my post the letter "x" in "STx" meant all of Street Touring. All ST classes get the STS rules while STX expands on them and STU expands on STS and STX.

I'm still waiting for some one to throw 275s on an SRT-4.

It sounds like the the non-act srt4 is going to have about -2.5 deg camber.
