Ran with Viper Days / NARRA at Roebling Road last weekend. My best lap was 1:22. Bryn's best lap was 1:33. This was my first time running Roebling and in the white group with open passing anywhere on track with point by. I was planning to practice with the red group (race group) on Sunday, but a mechanical failure prevented the car from continuing. On the first session Sunday my driver's side axle nut came loose causing the wheel to rub against the brake caliper. After tightening the nut the wheel bearing felt good so I tried running another session. On the 2nd lap the hub broke taking out the axle at the same time, apparently the hub was fatigued from earlier when the nut came loose. Luckily a fellow SRT-4 driver had a spare axle and I was able to get a new hub from Archer racing. Below are a few videos of our fast laps:
Is that what felt like the best line through 4-5? would think there's stuff left there, especially on 5, by going wider and lifting to get the back end to start to go out and let you plant more before going to 6-7.
At least that's how some instructors were telling me how they hustle fwd cars through there.
Thanks for sharing. Awesome vids to study. I'm not by any means a bro, but wasn't there a lot of coasting. I remember Skip used to tell us not to coast.

This was my first time driving at Roebling Road so I have a lot to learn there. I agree, my line is poor /defensive for most of the track. My plan was to work on going fast Saturday then work on the line Sunday. I expected to easily run a 1:20 on Sunday based on how easily I achieved the 1:22. I believe the axle nut took a few sessions to work itself loose, because in hindsight the car felt progressively worse Saturday, but I assumed the rain and fatigue was setting in on my part.
FYI: Even given all of the above my lap time was competitive for the SRT-4 race group which runs on 255 Hoosier R6s vs my 235 R888 tires.

Yeah, the Motec video is the best tool to spot coasting vs maintenance throttle because of the throttle overlay. I was really babying the car, i.e. early braking, slow corner exits not using the full track, and avoided trail braking entirely. I planned to up the pace on Sunday until the hub failure.
Next event is Viper Days finals at Daytona on 10/23 thru 10/25, but probably will not push the car too hard there as the penalty for mistakes would be much higher than Roebling. I cannot imagine breaking a hub in 5th gear at Daytona going 160mph.
