Default Overheating issues

Does anyone else have overheating issues @ the track? I was out in Dunnville Ontario on Saturday and was overheating after 10-15 minutes. It was 85-90 outside. I ordered a Koyo radiator and Hondata intake manifold gasket, so hopefully those will help. Also, going to switch the coolant. Any other recommendations? This is the first time I've had a problem. No problems at Watkins Glen or the other times I've been to Dunnville, although it hasn't been that hot either...

What do you consider overheating? What temp did the coolant get too?

Gauge was just into the red, so 250? It would start chiming and I would do a cool down lap and come in.

You might just have old fluid? I have never overheated on track and I run in the SE where it is normally in the 90-100 range. My car will typically get up to about 235-240, but hasn't made it into the red zone yet.

I would do a complete flush and make sure you take your time and purge all of the air out of your system before making any runs on the road or the track. Several cold => operating temp. cycles making sure to bleed air out via the bleeder below the radiator hose.

you could also try replacing the cap and thermostat along with teh fluid flush. The whole process is farely cheap.

fluid < $15
Cap < $8
T-stat< $6

don all that, and what your temp gauge and coolant level.

could be the beginning signs of a head gasket or worse.

180 degree tstat is a good idea too the 200 that comes in the car is too warm for track. 160 is a little too low .. you cant redline the motor till it opens and the rest of the fluid warms up.

I have experienced this the last two track days as well.

1st time the coolant was bypassing the rad cap and shooting out of the overflow bottle... Replaced Cap

2nd time the car kept it's cool a little better, but was still overheating eventually. 180 Tstat that was in there felt weak so i replaced.

Also removed the nostril inserts for better airflow onto the radiator.

next track day is the 30th, we'll see what happens...

checking/servicing your cooling system should be at the top of the pre-track day checklist

a 160/180t, coolant flush and possibly the fan mod are things to consider

I believe those inserts increase the airspeed into the radiator.

heh perhaps .. but more so do they keep from allowing the dissipation the positive preasure. =] I think increasing their size would be better than removing them.
