Just got back from big Willow, drove with Nasa for the first time.Very perfessional! My instructor Mark was very helpful. Big crowds in hpde 1&2 made for alot of practice passing. Got bumped from hpde 1 to hpde 2 in 3rd session yee ha! Met several very nice & helpful people, yes you Mike &Mike oh you to Gary. Hey Mike hope your move to the land of rain goes well. Kick some butt at Ca. speedway, wish I could be there. There was a young lady tearing it up in a staged & caged silver skittle! You go girl! Final count 5 silver,1 yellow,1 white so the fastest color is silver? Even with all the traffic, managed a 1'41 ooh I can taste the 1'30,s Maybe when I buck up and get some coilover's
I run with them once a month for 10 months out of the year. I was at CMP (Carolina Motorsports Park) this passed weekend kicking Porsche, Saleen and Panoz butt!
Then I corded my race tires and had to do a few laps on Sunday with my Neova's
We had 3 Subaru incidents. One STi flipped twice after missing a braking point and going straight off track instead of turning 116* to the right (like everyone else did).
Another Subie lost his motor and then that guy took out his buddies STi and spun at 100+ into and OVER a tire wall (and the wing survived). Mostly cosmetic sheet metal damage and they zip-tied the rear bump back on and drove it home.

So, how did you like them Vipers that were there? I was able to manage to catch up to one in the first session on Sunday and pass that one. On my last session, I almost had the chance to do the same to another Viper, but it went off course in turn 1. I sure had fun chasing the vette in my little old PT. Hmmm, I wonder what the Viper driver was saying.....

what group did You run in? I'm assuming hpde? What kind of lap times are You running? I was running with allot of german cars. Nice to see that all the money & technology germany has thrown at their sports cars cannot make the people who buy them as fast as some old guy in a Neon!!

I was in HPDE 2. I am thinking of going to 3 next year, but only after my instructors give the thumbs up. I would rather be a good driver than a fast idiot
Now, since I do not get times, I look for the lead cars and where I end up in the order. I was in the top 5 in all but one session. One session the traffic was so bad that I gave some point-bys to get some room. Then quite a few went to the pit road and the track opened up nicely. I know I could stay on the same lap as the lead Corvette and my lines and transitions were smoothing out. Not bad for a little old dark blue PT, eh?
Are any of you guys going to the California speedway event? March 21/22.
I will be cruzin down that way. Just look for the silly little yellow srt with a trailer behind it.

Every time I drive I have my wife time me. This serves 2 purpose's, I get to keep track of my progress and it gives the wife something to do. Also anyone that drove over last weekend should go to caliphotography.com they have alot of great photo's of us strutting our stuff

You could also mount a video camera. That way you can get you times off the counter as well as review your lines and see where you need to make improvements.

Both the wife and camera ideas are cool. I will have to consider those for the future..
