is the back SRT4 on your facebook is that your car ??

Steve

turn 1: sorta low speed but dont hurry back to drivers right. nothing is gained here by scrubbing the extra speed as you are going up the hill

turn 2: enter turn at track right. Well as right as you can muster in the straight between 1-2. It's a double apex so apex the first one a bit later and carry more into the whole complex.. you won't need to decel alot or even power off much there. Into the second apex you are accelerating .. accel a wee bit softer and then dont bother lifting cept to rotate the car on its nose a bit just prior to apex#2 of T2 (... if you need to ),WOT and track out entirely and get ready for stab/downshift at braking area into 3. Your car has a world challenge wing on it right? You should be able to hold the second apex almost all in .. you need a bit more speed to feel the extra downfoarce you have but it should be there. basicly you are hugging drivers left when you should be starting a bit later to get to apex 1 making the run to apex 2 a wee bit straighter

Turn 3: work out three to be able to get back to throttle on a wee bit earlier and smoother. a wee later apex might buy you that and you should track out a bit earlier and follow the same line as the candy cane once you know you can stick it. Basicly this is a great corner for you cause you set up nicely for the run to the bridge and 4

Turn 4: WOT you got the downforce. use it =] at absolute most is a lift to maintenance will be all the slowing you need here. I like a bit later apex here to to straighten up braking since i should be carrying more speed.

T5: T5a is a compromise/throwaway .. we are gonna totally ruin the fast line in 5a to get the best possible line out of 5b with as much speed as possible
even though its a throwaway you really need to be at track left at turn it. most people go from candycane at apex track out to the candycane outside and aim for the 2 candy canes in T5b. this is a great line ( which you do ) but you should be able to hold a wee bit more speed through to T5b if you deradius T5a as much as you can given the circumstances ( we are talking a matter of moving your current straight line from exit of 4 to apex of 5a. bending the center of that line over drivers left about 4 feet. is all you need .. its far easier to go in a straight line but you should be able to keep a good couple MPHs through to exit. the little camber and up hill there is a bit more exagerated if you attack from the left a tiny bit.

T5c... is that really even a corner?

T6 for sure not a corner .. just a place you cant see all the road coming up =p

t7 again just a slight bend

t8 ok we need to talk about T8 from t7 no brakes and barely even just smile and the upward curl of your lips will force you to lift ever so slightly off the throttle.. just make sure you are turning in based on the fast line from track left .. the more track right you are then the later you will intercept that line. again we are coming up to a slow section the corner can appear to net you little since its followed by slower corners. but hitting the correct line and avoiding the downshift coast at entry should dump you in a great straight line (short) braking area with only a wee bit of trail needed in 9 ( for some reason its damn slippery at the exit of 9... why is that?.. Ive never asked )

T9: recover the oversteer and set up for 10 and start finish.

turn 10 use all the track in a traditional line.

general notes: there is only 3 braking positions: threshold, off brakes entirely, trailing. And 3 throttle positions: WOT, maintenace and totally off the throttle. There is no throttle off/ brakes off coast mode in a race car. =] Try to never be coasting ... usually you can be holding throttle on a bit longer into braking so you can use a wee bit more brakes to dial the car down to a trail. (yes 'deeper' just trying to make sure that other folks that are reading this and dont know, can learn too =] ) Some people think of this as 'holding off on braking' I prefer to think of it as 'holding off on releasing the throttle'

I noticed that pretty much everything I said above you are doing on one lap or another.. I'm hopefully just trying to point out what you might do to stitch together a kickass lap or 20... let me know what you think.. ( I wont take anything personally, since I'm working a wee bit blind here .. its usually better to do this with a datalog )

BTW, That was a great show! congrats on all the passing! howd you place?
and oh yah ... what was with the red flag? noticed your car was pisses about slowing down =]

going faster to get more grip is sorta counter intuitive at first .. so run your practice with loads of down angle so you can feel it. Then run qualifying with most of it dialed out.. then race with a compromise between the 2 =]
