if they do an 81db limit at an autocross, the only cars running will be hybrids.

There are likely TONS of prepared and modified cars that are louder than you. Hell, there might be some SP, ST, and SM cars that are louder.

It seems like lots of sites in urban areas are under the same kind of scrutiny so, don't feel singled out where your club runs at. My exhaust is stock and I've never had a noise issue anywhere I've run at.

Unfortunately, complying with noise limits is a factor when setting up cars these days.

cart is anal rententive, then again they are from CT....lol
is it the website you're reading about or did you actually attend?
i would goto the gate and ask about getting a refund if you don't past tech...but i've seen louder cars at CART. but then again, they lost the firestone plant parking lot...to run on. there might be a new area w/new stipulations.

I have yet to hear a SRT-4 that would fail most typical noise requirements. As long as you don't have an anti-lag system popping everytime you lift, you should be fine. The turbo does a good deal to quiet the exhaust note.

81 db is still kinda loud. about the loudness of a dirtbike at 4krpm at 50 ft or so. Remember there is an approximate doubling of sound pressure/energy/volume with every 3 db. So 84 db would be right about the same dirt bike at 25 ft and 87 would be the same noise at 12 ft ..... The math is a bit more complex than that but it works out closely.

so you need to know how they are measuring the sound before you can really decide what is too loud =]
