Default Hankook Ventus R-S2 or Falken FK 452 For ACR?

Which is a better tire for use in autocross? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

The 'kooks are going to be much stickier than the 452's

Well, this won't help if you've still got the stock struts:
Also take a look at the default Bridgestone RE01Rs and the up and coming Dunlop Direzza Z1 StarSpec's.
Stones are more expensive, but the Dunlops should be in the same price range as the RS-2's

Also never run the Falken 452's but a more proper comparison would be the RS-2's vs the Falken 615's (about the same cost per).

I have run both and the RS-2's are better in the rain but they "chunked" while autocrossing on a hot day.

The 615's had better dry grip than the RS-2's and no abnormal wear so they were my preference.

For a few more bucks a tire, Kuhmo has introduced it's XS street tire and for a couple bucks more than that, the Dunlop Direzza Star Specs are an awesome all around tire.

Thanks for the reply. Have you used either of these tires?

That's the problem, I still have the stock struts. I wish there were more tire choices for this car. I'm tempted to just get coil overs so more tires fit, but I don't want to change classes.

The problem with the tires you list is that they don't come in a size that will work with the ACR, at least not that I could find.

Yup, for a set of street tires in the 225/45/16 the RS-2s are really the only option if you're buying them to use at an Autocross. The 452s aren't even close performance wise.

I've been using Yoko EVS100s (old tires) in the rain and the RS-2's are what I'll buy for the next set. That is unless I get another option for our size...

Ahhh..sorry, didn't know that there was a sizing vs. tire availability issue.

Can you use a 225/50-16? If so, tirerack is selling Bridgestone RE-01r's for $59.00 per tire on clearance (looks like they are older date but still an incredible price). And, they have others in that size.

If you stick with a 225/45-16, RS-2 will be your best bet.

The 225/50 will not work on stock bbs' and tokico's, so re-01r's for me. I'll be picking up the rs-2 for the street soon.

What about the Kumho Ecsta XS in a 215/45r16? They are a little smaller, but my bigger concern is that they are rated at 86W.

too skinny, short, and low load capacity. Otherwise, a very good tire IMO.

Hmm... The size I am not too concerned about, but if they can't carry the load I guess there is no sense in even considering them. I emailed Kumho, and they said they weren't planning on making a 225/45r16. I guess it is R-S2s for me.
