Has anyone removed the EVAP system on a stock fuel tank setup SRT-4? I did a search and could not find any info. Seemed like extra weight for a track car, just wondering if any problems will be encountered.
don't do it... it is one of the things that i believe needs to stay in the car.. my buddy had his removed and all sorts of problems after so had to put it back in.

I know the fuel cell equipped racing SRT-4's are not using an EVAP system so I wonder what the problems would be?
The car I talking about removing the EVAP system on is the #33 Archer Racing SRT-4 we purchased for my wife to race, this car is already fully gutted and caged, ie not street driven. I was just thinking the EVAP system is not needed. Next step of the build will involve a fuel cell, but currently I have too much work to do on the car before Roebling Road to tackle a fuel cell.
I removed mine two or three weeks ago. The evap stuff doesn't weigh that much, but I didn't have the line hooked up to the intake manifold and I was back there installing my walbro and return line, so I said what the hell and removed it all. I just looped the vent to the line going to the engine bay. I haven't had any problems.

Thanks for the info
I was also concerned that it would interfere with my "Nascar" style blade swaybar install, not sure yet as the bar should arrive later this week.
Yea, no problem. I didn't take any pics or I would post them up for you. But it's pretty straight forward once you start taking stuff off. Like I said I doubt you benefit greatly from it, I just figured less shit in the way and it was pointless to be on the car.

evap system is 2-3 lbs maybe. pull it when you put the cell in so you can run the vent proper like the WC car. if you pull it and you fill the tank to the top you have a couple issues. if you plug them hose at the tank, when you run the fuel level down you will get a vacuum and fuel will not flow proper. If you leave it open, you will get slosh and fuel spill. If you filter it like you should, you will have regained the weight you lost. resulting in wasted work =] wait till the cell goes in.
boots when you start using fuel at 3-7 MPG you will notice you will get lean issues when the pressure goes negative after 15 of a 20 minute session.. lean is not a condition we like on racecars.
Tenny look at drivers side rear corner of the trunk on the WC car.. you need to do that if you remove the evap system.
Well like I've posted, I have yet to have any problems and I'm not going lean. I didn't block the line of. I just rerouted it back to the line that goes into the engine bay and it vents there.

ahh still vented ... just not into the canister anymore. fill it up to the top on a hot day and start tossing it around a corner or 2 should shoot gas out the tube. put a checkvlaved filter on the end to save you from a fire =]
Thanks for all the input, looks like the swaybar should clear, will know more over the next couple days when bar arrives and I start test fitting. I was just surprised I could not find a thread talking about what problems could be encountered when removing the evap system.
I also noticed the vent setup on the WC SRT-4 on the passenger side rear corner.
