Default Dark Side at Roebling Road 2009

Hi all.

We are back. Some of you were with us last May - and well, we missed you in November. We hope you can come on back...

We have two dates to offer.
May 2-3
Nov 7-8

For those with plenty of seat time and are solo with a respected club -- the track is hosting a Lapping Day on the Fridays, May 1 and Nov 6

We have a new host hotel for May - we are booked into the Hawthorn Suites which is by the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. They offer, roomy 2-room suites, complete with a pull-out couch in the living room, and a bedroom (with a door for privacy) that you can get with a King, a Queen or 2 Queens. Our special rate is $79 for May and $74 for November...

Registration is online (sort of) -- you can place your name on the roster at ClubRegistration.net - or download a form from Dark Side Index and mail the check or the application with a check to the Dark Side. Friday night hospitality will be at the Hawthorn.

Our chef, Robert will be back with good pig pickin' on the Saturday night - and while we eat, we can listen to the sweet sounds live of Annie Allman.

Tech at the track Friday afternoon, at the hotel Friday night and at the track Saturday morning.

You know, I could go on to tell you we have 5 groups from novice to instructors. That we tend to open all the passing zones to the green and blue before the weekend is over. That our Red Instructor's group gets to pass anywhere with a point. But you know, it's all on line at Dark Side Index and if anyone has any really tough questions to throw my way - please do so, I could easily do with a wake up call...

I hope y'all consider joining us. All marques are welcome. (Hear that Jeff Rhea - even your Camaro.)

Jackie

So it's $250 for both days?

I emailed them and they said $250 for the weekend. Sounds like a great deal to me.

It sure is. The only other thing we charge for is if you want to join us for BBQ on Saturday night - and that's ten bucks....

I hope to see you at the track...

Jackie

P.S. If you have any other questions - fire away... I'll get back to you with the answers...

P.P.S. Thank you David - look forward to meeting you and the Mrs...

OK...someone beat my time of 1:19.8. I'd do it myself, but I'll be at One Lap or SEMA for these dates. Haven't been to RRR in 16 months... I miss the old girl!

I am probably going to make it, let me see who down here wants to drive up and do some road course racing. I think Big D came up last time and he said it's a pretty fast track..

Maybe I can try for November's event. Running the tail of the dragon on Jun 21st so won't have the money for May.

I didn't do Tail of the Dragon, but yesterday I had the pleasure of driving Interstate 40 from Kentucky to North Carolina - what a thrill! Mountain roads, twisties and turnies - what fun! Has anyone else here taken that route?

I do it a couple times a year in my car or the truck while towing the car... the first way is fun... the other, not so much!

On one of the other forums I frequent, one guy told me about the Snake...

"For information on The Snake, just do a Google search on the snake 421 and you will get a lot of results. Basically, it is the section of Hwy 421 that goes from Mountain City, TN over towards South Holston Lake (before you get to Bristol). There are 489 curves within a 12 mile radius of The Country Store in Shady Valley, TN."

I then looked up Tail of the Dragon - and wondered why folks didn't do the Snake...

The Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, with 318 curves in 11 miles, is America's number one motorcycle and sports car road.

Were you aware of the Snake?

I really wanted to go to this event but I am already registered for a fishing tournament that weekend. I hope to attend one of their future events.

Start saving us the weekend of November 6-8. That's our next one... I'm sorry you couldn't make this one either - but we look forward to meeting you at the track - ummm, later!

I'll be back to let you know when that registration is officially open. Probably on August 1.

Have a great time in the tourney -

and see you at the track - in future.
