Drove the Archer racing SRT-4 today for the 1st time at local Gainesville track. A couple times when I would jump from full boost to the brakes I would have a really stiff pedal. If I paused between gas and brake then the pedal felt normal. I assume this is the check valve on the brake booster, anything else I should check? I am headed to Roebling Road next weekend and do not want to enter turn 1 at 140mph and find no brakes.
That should do it... I always carry a couple of those with me, they fail fairly regularly!
Thanks, reading your past posts is what lead me to believe that was the problem. I was surprised the Archer car with my suspension changes had more oversteer/rotation than the World Challenge car. The car was really entertaining to drive.
Should eb fun at RRR this weekend. I just pulled my tranny and installed a new engagement fork. Haven't test drive it yet as I found a MISSING piece on my camber plate (the DS one fell off in NJ...yes... it fell off).
Will need to overnight some parts or have my machinist buddy replicate the one I have left!
Yeah I am looking forward to RRR, we need to make a few changes to Bryn's car and may decide to switch back to a regular swaybar to eliminate some oversteer until Bryn gets more seat time.
she was catching you in a couple places out there =] I should rent your car from you sometime for a national event out there. lol or hell even just a track day

I was waiting up for her, trying to help her see the line around the track. She runs an average of 61 sec laps times, where I average 57 sec lap times at Gainesville in the SRT-4 and 54 sec laps in the Viper. The track insurance does not allow passenegers so the lead follow seems to work best. I use the Motec dash to try and start around 64 sec laps and then attempt to work down to 60 sec laps. The process helps me to learn to use my mirrors and be aware of my surroundings. I did drive her car (ie Archer car) for one session, I was able to run a 58.2 sec lap, but feel the car is easily capable of 56 sec once the few issues are sorted.
The Dodge parts guy told me the SRT-4 and Neon check valve are the same part number - he ordered part number 04796355 for $13 does this sound right? I thought the SRT-4 valve would be different because fo the boost gauge etc...

btw if you go WOT, lift 2..3.. BRAKES. you should be able to work around this problem ( in a race only cause its a bad habit). You can also clean them at the track with brake cleaner or carb cleaner until you can get to your spares or a open dealer.

I did notice that a slight pause before brake application helped alleviate the problem. Gainesville track does not lend itself to pausing with such short straights. Although I agree it is a bad habit anyways to start, but better than the alternative of no brakes.
oh the brakes are still there ... just no vacuum assist =]
I've had this happen while late braking and with no time to release, so I grab the wheel and brace myself and just push the hell out of the pedal.... It USUALLY works!
