Default Autocross Footage Thread

I'll be posting up my autocross footage/results in this thread so that newcomers to autocross can see what an autocross looks like through a SRT-4 rather than another car. Enjoy!

If anyone else has footage of their runs, post them up too!

***All videos are available in high quality***

2008 LOCAL AUTOCROSS FOOTAGE:
Indy Region: Points #6 "Nationals Warm-up, Double Down!"
D-Stock first place! Took first by 1.974 seconds against a good friend of mine in a Mazdaspeed 3. This was my first event using street tires. The front two wheels had street tires and the other two wheels were mounted with all seasons. The setup had too much rotation. But still... it's really surprising to see a two second increase from just two tires!

The first video is the forward version of the course. The second video is the reverse version of the course. Fastest times on the forward and reverse were added up to determine the final time.

The third video is just a fun clip showing where the back end came around a little too much.

CSCC Region: Points #8
D-Stock second place! Lost by 3.812 seconds to a fully prepped ACR running "custom made" camber bolts and 225 wide Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec's mounted on O.Z. wheels. The driver in the ACR has a ton of experience. He gave me some tips to go a lot faster- really cool. I wonder how I would have done on better tires though.

Youtube - 08.31.08 CSCC Region: Points #8

Indy Region Fun Event 1
I was the only entry. Compared my two fastest runs. Comparison video of run three (47.761) and run four (47.882). Made a mistake at the barricade at the end on run four- came in too hot. Video shows that if I didn't make a mistake there, run four would have been faster than run three.
Pax Results: 56/ 107 entries (52nd percentile)

YouTube - Indy Region: Fun Event 1

Indy Region Points Event 1: Spring Into Solo 2008
First place! Took first by a close .187 seconds. Only two entries. Went head to head against a good driver in a Mazdaspeed 3.
Pax Results: 69/ 125 entries (55th percentile)

YouTube - Indy Region: Points Event 1

Fort Wayne Region Points Event 1: Gymkharna Star!
First place! Drove a lot better this time and took everything super tight. Two entries for DS and two in DSL. I didn't realize my phone rang until I saw this video. lol
Pax Results: 21/ 53 entries (39.6th percentile)

YouTube - Fort Wayne Region: Gymkharna Star Solo #2

Thanks, it took a lot of time to get the videos to start exactly at the same time.

As far as how confusing it was to follow the points event 1 course, about half of the cars in the first heat DNF'd their first run. Then because of time management issues, the remaining heats (including me) had to run one less run which made a lot of people nervous. But since I came to the event early, I got a chance to walk the course a lot- so I had a better understanding of what to expect. Though I still got a little thrown off guard at the slalom..

So perhaps you didn't make it to Indy's Points #2 @ Grissom...

Thinking of South Bend's double solo event @ Grissom next weekend?

I wanted to go to the second Indy points event, but since I was in Fort Wayne, I decided to autocross at the Fort Wayne Region. I remember from the first pts. event that Performance Driven announced that they would give out a "prize" for the most consistent driver, did you see what it was?

I planned on making it to every event this season. But things came up and now I'm out of state working. So I won't be able to autocross for a couple months. It sucks, but by the time I get back, I'll have dedicated autocross (street) tires rather than the tall Kumho ASX's I've been running. So I'm excited for that!

AH, no see I didn't get down there either...

I was planning to go to the SB double, but it seems that I'll be replacing a few wheel studs. Seems the monkey that put on my replacement tire (stupid flat) didn't pay enough attention in class to learn that you need to start the lugs BY HAND

Default ***UPDATE*** Fort Wayne Region: Gymkharna Star Solo #2 Posted!

I just posted up the Fort Wayne Region Autocross video. Check it out! A comparison video will also be made because there was a 0.070 second difference between my fifth and sixth run. My fifth run was 58.944 seconds and my sixth run was 59.014 seconds.

Sorry to hear that- that sucks. At least the one you'll be missing is a local event and not a nationals event.

Hmmm, I wonder what it was.. Seeing that they chose from anyone and not the most consistent class winning driver, it was probably something small.

lol Sorry bout that, the clanking noise was coming from my keys. I'll be sure to take off all of the extra keys and also turn off my phone for the next one. Thanks for the input!

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to update you guys on the plans for the car. In hopes to save money on gas and maintenance, I will be getting 16x7 wheels for daily driving and will be dedicating the 17x6's for autocross tires only. No r-comps for now, but the streets that I will be getting should make me seconds faster than the Kumho ASX's that I have been using for the past two years. I am a little worried that I will have clearance issues with the 16x7's because Discount Tire says that they will not fit well. Well that's it for now.

-V.
