Anyone know of any 17x9 or 17x10 inch wheels that will fit a SRT4? Preferably somewhat light weight.... I'm thinking about trying to squeeze some 275/40R17's on my car for either STU or CSP/DSP. Any idea what offset/backspacing would be required? FWIW...I've got BC coilovers and 2004 non-ACR.
Looks like the new fastrack proposal will allow as wide as 285 on 2WD cars.
Also, any one replace their "viper" seats with racing seats like MOMO, etc.. to reduce weight (redundant question as I've seen pictures on this forum). Is there a standard seat bracket to fit into the SRT4 or does it require fabricating your own?
I've been moving up in all the local Carolina events in the last year (consistently in the top 25 pax in the last 5 - 6 events) and am trying to figure out a way to make the car competitive for nationals. The car is paid for, so right now it's going to be cheaper for me to try make it as competitive as possible (either STU or SP class) than buy a different auto-x car. Because I'm completely hooked on auto-x and would like to attend a national event in the future and would like to try not to finish DFL!
GLH...Thanks for the bracket info. $110 per bracket...daaammmmnnnn! Might have to find a way to make some if I go with new seats.
What about if I moved down to a 15 in wheel? Although I was thinking that dropping the diameter by around 2.5 inches might have a negative affect on the gearing. Do ACR's and non-ACR's have different gearing?
One other thing, what's a good harness that will lock into the child seat clips in the back? What do the side belts mount/connect to?

There are only a few off the shelf 17x9 5x100 wheels with a decent offset. Nix the 17x10. All else will require custom made wheels.
Not only will these wheels protrude way past the fenders you also limit your cornering capabilities since your fenders and rubbers will be very close acquainted.

evo77...Thanks man. This wheel and tire combo would only go on the car for racing, so sticking out past the fenders is not a concern. Trying to get them to fit is though. Can you tell me what the 17x9 off the shelf one's are?
There is a 1st Gen (I believe) Neon in my club that is running currently in DSP and he's got 275's on a 15 inch wheel. We were supposed to do a test fit on my car after an event but it started raining. I don't recall if they were 275/50 or 275/35. I'm thinking he'd want the shorter side wall, so I would be concerned with the gearing with 275/35R15's. I'd have to convince him to let me do a test run as well.

The discontinued 17x9 Sportmax 050's were on ebay for a while for super cheap. I believe the offset was 38mm. They would have probably needed 5mm spacers in the front but the offset is relatively close to clearing suspension.
If you search around you "might" be able to find some remaining stock from someone.
17x9 Rial Nogaro might be a little low on the offset but may work ok (if you don't mind the lowrider look).
5x100
+30 offset
17x9 Falken Hanabis on edgeracing.com they're only $99 right now too, so worth a shot. I was going to try them out with 255's or 275's but got r-comps instead. 20 offset, so they could fit ok, but most likely will need a spacer.

Offset is too low. The idea is to find a high offset wheel and then use spacers to push them out to just the exact distance needed to clear the suspension.

See I would have thought that a 17x9 with +20 offset would be just about perfect positioning, assuming the design clears the calipers. That would work out to 134.3mm backspacing. (121.2mm being stock backspacing, and 136.6mm backspacing *just* starting to scrape the stock front struts based on my Motegi Traklite 1.0's at 17x8 +45offset) Granted you'd be somewhat limited in tire choices as you wouldn't be able to have them be wider than the rim. It seems to me that you'd actually want a LOWER offset wheel in his case so that he'd have some clearance for tires, say something closer to a +10. Again this is all based on the design clearing the caliper regardless of offset.
I'm not a fan of spacers under any conditions... hence why the aforementioned motegi's aren't on the car currently until I find a solution to that problem.
