When I was running mustangs in the late 80s the 26 x 8.5 netted me 1.5 shorts at 11 flat so that size is very capable at about 11 psi. Its just too tall for the SRT. You will lose 3-5 mph if you arent running in the 400 whp range or higher.

Now a taller tire is almost equivalent to a taller gear. Forced induction cars love tall gears, as it gives them more work to do, thus increasing the MPH at the trap. I've seen this myself. Are you suggesting that the "sweet spot" for the srt happens better with the 24.5? I could almost go for that, but I think with a properly tuned S3 car, the 26 would add MPH, but possibly slow down the short time.

so with the 24.5 inch tall slicks are you having to shift to 5th gear? i have run my car with the stock tires adn i ran a 114mph i'm in serious need of slicks but don't want to have to go to 5th or go so small that i will over power them i'm rihgt aroud the 400 hp mark.

If you are under the 400-450whp the 24.5x8.5x15 might be your best bet.

Will this size still work on Hotchkis Lowering Springs as well?

If your less than 400who 26x6's are awesome. I've netted many low 1.7's on these.

currently running 26/8.5/15 m&h slicks on k1's....stock turbo no n2o 296whp 364wtq....pulled my best 60's 330's 1/8th's 1000ft's and 1/4's....car is way more consistant now. MPH is off only from 1/8 -1/4 about 1mph but the consistancy is un matchable so far. 1.672 60is best and 11.87 best 1/4 115.37 being best mph to date.

I remember reading a post from Dr. Who about using different size slicks on the lightweight stage 3 car. Raced the Stage 3 PVO car tonight There is the post. On 22" slicks they were able to trap 121 a couple times. On the 24.5 the trap speed didn't slow down that much (less than 1mph), but lower the ETs. Not sure if they ever ran a 26" slick, but it would be interesting to see the results.

Also with the 24.5" slicks you would not need to shift into 5th gear unless you are trapping 130ish
