Default Trying to go 11s! Got advice?

Well guys i wanna bust a 11 second time slip outta my car the way it stands...i think its got the power, now i just have to get it there...

im going to the track on oct 9th, im going to be running slicks so im gonna use a trailer.

What technique would you recommend to launch? Ive never been down the tracks on slicks before.

Mods are
AGP Delta 55 kit, 20 psi & supporting fuel
intake/exhaust/bfmic
Custom 6 puck sprung clutch w/ fidanza flywheel
all 3 solid mounts
24.5/8.5-15 slicks
stock suspension

car made 350whp/360wtq on this 20psi and conservative pump gas tune...

so what do you think it can run? and whats your best advice?

drop the clutch at 4800 or so?

i too have stock suspension, and im assuming it could be better, but its not that big of a deal, just when i bang 2nd it squats like a mofo!

i use same slicks, and i launch around 5k. there are a million different ways to figure it out, just find what you feel comfortable doing. 2nd gear burnout is a must, just until you see a little smoke, then let the e-brake down so it pulls you forward and cleans all the shit off the tires.

I use one of two methods...hold the e-brake up slightly, and let the clutch out just enough to start to feel it pull barely, wait for green and you already have the sudden jerk that usually spins the tires gone, all you have to do is pedal it right after you let the clutch all the way up to get it to hook after you drop it down and launch. I can get consistent 1.8's like that. if not that, its a quick slip and dump of the clutch, and when it hooks, youll know lol

plenty of guys here cutting 1.6-1.7's with these size tires, i just havent been lucky enough yet.

and when i went 11.8 i made 351/390 on stock T, so im pretty sure youll have the power to get damn close to it. be sure to post back how you do

High 11's shouldnt be a problem with the mods and power your making. 4800 sounds like a good place to start on the launch. Try to avoid just "dumping" the clutch. You'll wanna slip it out quickly. You'll get the feel once you make a few passes. One thing i would recommend is the n2mb 2step/wot box. Makes launching and shifting a breeze. Let us know how you do.

I agree on the quick slip of the clutch as opposed to just side stepping it.

I'm still working on the launch part but WOT shift EVERY gear

I went from 13.70's to 13.52 WOT shifting every gear.

The most important is the 1-2 shift. Wot that as well. Go get em man

This definitely makes a huge difference, but can easily reduce internal transmission component life especially without a WOT box. Most guys drag racing understand and accept this trade off, but just putting it out there.

i read that sticky...its from 2004, i figured a fresh thread would be better

ok to answer some questions...

the tune is conservative cause i ran out of fuel, i have a return line and meth kit waiting to get put on, but im hoping i can go 11s without it, then go faster with it after a retune. Its my first time on slicks so i want to try them out

i guess well see, i really dont want to just drop the clutch but i may ride it for a split second...

and as far as WOT shifting goes this time around its not happening. I can shift a gear pretty damn good and yes i know it holds boost but i am not laying everything on the line, i got more power to come so im not risking my tranny...

the WOT box & 2step will be purchased for next time i hit the track with the return line & meth.

i appreciate your inputs guys and hopefully i can light those sticks up! And i plan on doing a nice 2nd gear burnout to heat em up!

At least wot the 1/2 shift, you will love you your car just shoots down the track.

Right now I absolutly hate slicks

I was just getting my Drag Radial launch (starting to get consistant 2.0's)! I purchased some used slicks, to learn on and It's like I've never launched the car before!!!

I'm re-learning from step one.

Start at 12psi cold tire pressure
Do a nice 2nd gear burnout
Without the WOT box/2step free rev the car to about 4800 rpm, dont drop, but barely slip the clutch when youre ready tp go.
WOT shift all the gear
Relax, and dont get pissed if it doesnt happen the first time out!
It takes practice, but you'll get the hang of it quick!
Good luck, and be safe!
