So my first time at the track was fun and frustrating at the same time. I pulled the shift knob of shifting into second three different runs. Although I went into this with almost no idea of what times i was gonna run. I was disappointed in the fact that i thought i would run much faster. So any tips/advice anything ideas for mods that will improve my times the most please post up or send me a message.. Thanks! Drew..
I will post the videos of the runs as soon as i figure out how to edit them from my new camera
The 1st thing that comes to mind is your 60' time. A good 60' on street tires is 2.0, so you should work on getting as close to 2.0 as possible.
Also what is you boost set at? Your trap speeds are a bit low. You should be a tic over 100mph.
I'm still learning this racing thing myself, but what I would recommend is next time, don't worry about reaction time. The timer for your lane does not start until you move forward. Just line up, set you rev's to where you want them and take off when you are ready. I did can't remember what you mod list says but if you don't have motor mounts get it!!! I'm sure some guys with more experience will chime in later.
I spike 15 fall to 12redline, i have the greddy profec b spec 2 controller, and i already have prothane motor mount inserts!.. like i said im open to feedback cuz these were my first runs ever! yea from a dig is harder haha ..
And for what you said about the 60' time and how i should work on it. How should i work on it? haha idk what to do to improve on it or make it faster!

Hard to say man. I'm still working on the launch myself, but i know the key to a good ET is in the first part of the run.
-Did you ease the clutch or just dump it?
Like I said, you trap speeds are low and even with your bad 60' your 1/8th trap is really low. You should check for boost leaks.
just dumped it haha i was nervous when i got to the line and wasnt ready for the light at all. the second run is the only one i didnt pull the shift knob off on

I think you have found the reason for your poor ET's and straps.
The first thing to work on is getting clean passes. Ya gotta make it down the track 1st.
You can't just dump the clutch with these cars... you hafta kind of let it out slowly. No so slow that you burn the clutch, slow enough to get some traction. Hard to explain.
It sounds like there are a few things you need to improve on. First I would work on getting your shift knob to stay on! I couldn't imagine how frustrating that is having it come off half the time, after that then work on your driving. Biggest part is going to be the launch, if you don't have slicks then you won't get good 60's by just dumping the clutch. I recommend revving it up maybe to 2000 rpm and then just do the best you can and figure out how you need to let out the clutch. I have slicks and almost always have had slicks so I'm not sure what the best way to launch is without them. Another thing to work on will be your shifting. What RPMs are you shifting at? Are you WOT shifting? You don't need a WOT box to WOT shift, I don't have one and I have no problem doing it. Also, don't forget to go as straight as possible, obviously the shortest distance from one point to another is a straight line. If you find yourself struggling to keep it straight down the track then I would also work on that.
Just keep practicing and you'll get it. Why do you have your boost set so low? I have my AGP WGA set a lot higher than 15psi (more like 22psi). If you can tune it to run more boost then that would be another obvious thing to do, the way you have it set now it won't run much faster than stock (if at all).
I also recommend getting solid motor mounts (if you don't already) and if you are going to keep racing then get some slicks so you don't have to worry about the launch so much.
Hope that helps, if anyone has better advice then feel free to correct me. Have fun! And show us your videos!

I am going to cut down my short throw and use a tap and die so i can screw the knob on instead of just having it pop on..
my boost is at 15 cuz i thought thats what i had to run on stock turbo because the fuel pump cant handle more? im stage 0 still
and im gonna try to relax more when i go up there, being my first time i was pretty nervous.. i have solid motor mounts!
I havent WOT shifted, actually i never have and dunno how.. i was gonna buy a box from N2MB but didnt have to time before the event..
Thanks for the feed back! working on the vids still. even though they are gonna be embarrassing!
What year is your car? The stock pump should be good to around 19psi peak and 15-16 to redline. Solid motors mounts are a must without some other type of traction device(swaybars or traction bars). Rev it to around 25-2800 and let the clutch out slowly. With the mods you have and the boost your running I don't see why you shouldn't be able to cut a low 2.1 60ft. As for your shift nob pull straight back not up.

mines an 04 with my mods what kind of 60' and 1/4 mile times do you think the car is capable of ? need some numbers to shoot for
i still have the high setting on my boost controller i can mess with and turn up my boost.. should i put the stiffer spring in my wga that comes with the agp kit?
Judging by what you have if you turn the boost up to peak higher(19-20) and hold closer to 15-16 you should be able to run high 13's with a decent 60ft.
maybe if i could get traction thatd be possible.. im gonna start messing with the boost tonight but idk if i should put my stiffer spring in the wga or if the one i have in it can hold the 19psi of boost
For now just try to get it to peak 19 and hold 15. That should give you quite a bit more power and shouldn't take long to get it lined out. The spring in the agp should do ok just tighten up the shaft.
