I used to go to the track regularly. Not soo
much anymore. I have a 1/4 mile tourney this weekend, and I was wondering if it was safe to powershift. Another guy on here powershifted from 2-3 and then 3-4 and he did better. I always thought powershifting was bad with any car. Help me out you guys. I'd really like to know for sure. Talk to you all soon!!!

x2 on the box^^^ But it depends mostly on your clutch set-up. If you have a puck clutch that is prone to warping or swelling "CM, Spec" it can be death to input, shift forks, And that can lead to a total transmission lost.

i have a CM stage 3, what do you mean warping or swelling? This is actually my 2nd CM Stage 3 my 1st one broke a spring..... are these bad clutches?
I used a CM stage 4 and any time the clutch would heat up, "in the Burnout" it would make power shifting a very bad idea.. I've around long enough to know that the CM puck clutches do swell, making them very on-off. If they are heated a few times they will warp. So no they are not bad clutches you just have to understand them. And drive them accordingly.
Try to WOT shift 3rd to 4th, If that goes smooth try 2nd to 3rd... so on and so on. But if at any point you find that your having to hold the clutch in for more than a sec. DO NOT try speed shifting.
Sure you can make up a little time by doing it but you run a greater risk of breaking parts. And on a dd thats not fun.
I took a stock block, head, axle car to a 11.1 with NO WOT shifting.
When I did, I broke forks and inputs!
P.S. Anyone who tries to race needs to understand what there doing. If you drive a stick car you should know what clutch warp, swelling, and slip means. This way if you do have a problem you can understand whats happening to prevent total failure.

What is a good clutch that wont warp on me or anything that can with stand very fast shifting. I think my 1st cm clutch warped on me because right after i got my car tuned everytime i let off the clutch pedal i would get a strange vibration and when i pushed down on it the vibration would go away

Honestly the only SAFE clutch that will allow speed shifting is one can be used with a larger input shaft, Rage or Realtune. But that gets pricey. If a new larger input is out of the question, The Clutch Master fx600 and 700 as well in CenterForce clutches feel nice but you always run the risk of snapping a input.
Keep in mind improper burnout and shifting can damage any clutch very quick.

Well I broke my first input shaft on a 2nd to 3rd wot shift and broke my second one on a fast 3rd to 4th shift so for now I think ill just take it easy on my shifting till I can afford those beefier parts
I have no clue what clutch is in my 04 (I just got it last week), but I've been to the track and raced all day on it, doing WOT shifts in all 4 gears. That being said I've driven nothing but stick shift my entire life, and have been drag racing since I was 16. It all depends on rev matching, and skill of the drive. Be care and have fun.
Well obviously power shifting is bad because your shifting it way faster than what the stocker was capable of. You might be able to get away with a few beatings but just give it some time till it takes a toll!
