i have always ran Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials that are 235/60-15 on a set of pt steels and with my 50 trim i have to launch at 5k plus and slip it a little leaving. I have been told those tires are not good from a 5speed and also not good on a fwd. i have only cut a 1.9X 60'. i now have a set of Hoosier 26/9.5-15 slicks now. i am not going to run tubes in them, have been told i dont have to run them, just have to keep an eye on the airpressure. i plan on launching around 5500 with them. any words of advice.

I would recommend slicks I ran 23x7.5x15 on all stock SRT. Improved my 1/4mile times by .4 from 14.1's to 13.7's and 60ft times from 2.1 to 1.8 the shorter diameter tires get a little faster spool up in 3rd and 4th. Launch at 3500 to 4500 no SPIN no PROBLEM just hold on. It's definitly a different car to launch with slicks on it.

Well I ventured into the "slicks" dept. Got some ASA AR1's 15x7 and 24.5x8x15 M/T ET Drags from Forward Motion. I'll be going to Memphis motorsports park tomorrow to get times. They've got tubes, and on 10psi with relatively cold tires (No water, so no proper burnout) I couldn't get a 60' time to save my life. I was just playing with them on a private stretch of road, but was mildly disappointed. I'm sure the times will improve tomorrow when I can properly heat them. Does anyone think the 24.5's will kill the "top end" on a "basic bolt on" (Stg0, everything but fuel and turbo mods) SRT4? I should be ~275whp, and I estimate high 12's (ran 13.42 on DR's with 2.2 60'). I'll put timeslips and info in here tomrrow...

Hey Kawazie I am not sure if you got my pms as they are not showing being sent. The track is not open tomorrow as they cancled it due to the weather. Let me know when you are going to try and come down and we can try and meet up. If you didnt get my pms let me know and I will get you my number.

Yea I saw they were closed... totally pissed btw. It's all good... I should be there on the 24th (next weekend). It just gives me more time to play with them and get them "dialed in". <10psi in the tubes un-nerves me though, I hope heating them up good helps.

Well if you have never had the pleasure of our track it is one of the stickiest at the begining and one of the fastest track in the nation. Lots of pros have set both there best time and best top speed here. I ran totally stock to the tune of 13.69 at 103.7 and had an average stock time of 13.79 at 102.xxx. I have run in the 12.69's to 12.79's on stock tires and nothing but nitrous. Cant wait to get to the track and run with just the slicks and my other external mods to see if I can come close to that time. Then in goes the nitrous. I will do whatever it takes to get into the 11's by the end of the season. Give me a call before you come or when you get here and we can meet up.

I'm going on my buddy's slicks for the first time tomorrow. Here's my mods.
wga, fmic, 80psi fpr mod, map clamp, wb, full 3" side exit, ported tb, MSD dis2, sri, street tuned. Where should I launch at off of the 2 step? What psi should I try first? Lots of good info in here, but I need a good starting point for my mods. Thanks in advance! |
