ive heard of people running the spare tires that come stock with our cars and running two of them in the rear for skinnies basically at the track... when i thought about it i was like they're good for at least 12-15 miles and if ur only using them at the track for 1/4 runs is it possible? and most importantly is it safe>?
How much skinnier are they? Ive never had to use mine.

I remember about 10 years ago at Maple Grove me and some guys bitched because the Honda guys were doing this, I refused to race against a guy, a temporary spare is NOT rated for speeds over 55mph or so.
Track techs agreed and put a end to it.
I was NO WAY running next to someone at 90-100mph while they had a spare on.
Ah, I see the light. I didn't know they were rated so low. I guess that's a lot of extra stress on a tire not designed for it, and if it blows out you would be in a world of hurt.

I'm with you. Skinnies only belong on the back of 9 second and lower cars where every little advantage counts.
