After two years of the neon sitting in the garage I finally made it out to the track yesterday. It was set on 13-14psi and tuned just enough not to blow the engine. Yeah I was anxious to just make a pass! I'm having LC-1 issues so had to borrow an LM-1 and we did our best to get it somewhat dialed in. The results were decent all things considered. Here's the rundown:
R/T: .292
60': 2.100 (on slicks but traction still sucked)
1/8: 8.378
MPH: 90.05
1/4: 12.753
MPH: 112.17
I made another pass but missed 2nd so the trap speed was roughly the same but the ET was a 13.5. I'm very happy with these numbers considering that I'm probably leaving around 20whp on the table due to the poor tune....and I have at least another 6-8psi to add. As-is with a good launch I could knock off .3-.5 in the 1/4 with that trap speed. Last time I had this car out I cut 1.8xx 60' times.....if I could have done that this time I'd bet low 12's would have been the result.
Next step is to hit the dyno and turn the boost up.....but for now I'm pleased with a drop of .5 and 9 more mph since the last time I ran on a stock block with 8psi. I'm keeping the turbo stock to see how far I can push it.
My setup:
- built 2.0L block with crower rods, 40 over wiseco pistons, coated bearings
- megasquirt v2.2 w/stock ECU but fuel/timing with MS
- SRT4 head with 2.0L cams (3 angle valve job, p&p by a friend)
- SRT4 stock turbo/manifold with the o2 housing area opened up a bit
- SRT4 Stage 2 wastegate
- SRT4 stock clutch
- SRT4 stock intake manifold
- SRT4 Stage 1 injectors
- 1:1 regulator, -6AN to and from tank, custom -6 rail
- 3" exhaust, starting at the o2 housing
- new water pump, oil pump, timing belt (w/ mechanical tensior)
- Precision 400whp intercooler
- Forced Fab 2.5" intercooler piping
- 60mm jeep TB
- walbro 255 pump
- OBX lsd
- LC-1 wideband
