Don't waste your time with Ozark Raceway Park
Here's the skinny on that track:
If you are using slicks, you are limited to 1/8 mile run. Street tires only for the 1/4. It used to be a 1/8 mile track, so they put in some extra asphalt for the 1/4 mile shutdown, but it is extremely rough and bumpy, and far too short. To make the turn off I had to get on the brakes hard, and ended up scraping up the nose of the car on the bumps and holes.
The 1/4 mile marker is a thin white line across the track, and a traffic cone on the right guardrail. Good luck seeing it clearly when you're going down the "groove" and dodging ruts.
In the couple hours I was there, I saw at least half a dozen obvious timing errors with their system.
The water box is really short and you have to turn sharply prior to entering it, so I basically had my front wheels in the waterbox halfway through a turn, which means any FWD vehicles can't effectively do a burnout. The water box is also kept fairly dry, and the track workers were very stingy with the water. Also, the water box has a metal grate that catches all of the water runoff, so you basically never get your tires wet enough to slip and spin.
Not to mention, if you do try and do a burnout with a FWD vehicle, your back tires are still on gravel-covered asphalt, so your ass end will never stay put regardless of how hard you pull the e-brake.
The tree is impossible to see during sunset because the sun sets directly behind it.
The pit area is partially paved, and far from level. If you are going to do any tire swapping or need to lift the car, it's hard to find a nice flat spot. Also, the pits wrap around the staging lanes, which means people are driving back and forth across the staging lanes and disrupting traffic. The pit area is completely unmarked, so people just started parking all over the place as the night went on.
The return lane is about 7' wide, bumpy, and deteriorating.
The only good thing about the track was they had unleaded "purple" 110 octane gas at 7.50 per gallon, and 99.5% methanol for 3.00 per gallon.
So, to anyone thinking of stopping by Ozark Raceway Park or Ozark International Raceway, save your time and money and go elsewhere!
