Question Care to diagnose my time slips?

Setup:
Stage 3 w/Toys
K&N CAI
ED WUSS direct fit IC
Maxxfab 3" O2 and catless TBE
(Slipping) Stock clutch
Stock rims with kumho SPT street tires@26psi
Ambient temps was about 62F.

DAB 2 with HOM on (112 octane)

Here are my best 2 runs:

0.503 0.357 Reaction
2.257 2.341 60'
6.101 6.134 330'
8.957 8.940 1/8 ET
86.60 90.99 1/8 MPH
11.358 11.331 1000'
13.330 13.331 1/4 ET
115.33 115.51 1/4 MPH

In bold is where I was fastest between those two runs. Funny I was faster with a way better trap speed at the 1/8 mark on the 2nd run yet ended up finishing later with a marginally faster trap speed.

Here's a vid of one of my runs. That one was not that good with crazy wheel hop but it shows that I shift to 4th before the 1/8 mark. Then how did I end up with a slower time and reduced 1/4 trap speed without shifting? Could it be the clutch?

Do you see anything else wrong with the time slips? My best 1/4 trap of the day was 116.09. My best 1/8 trap speed was by far that 90.99, can't believe I ruined it somehow.

Thanks

Your 60' isn't the best and if you get that down around a 1.9 you could run high 12's pretty easily.

Couple things I would suggest.

First thing I would do is help prevent wheel hop (you don't want to break an axle), if you haven't already gotten solid motor mounts, then I would suggest getting those at least. If you are going to drag race more than a couple times a year I would highly suggest getting some slicks, don't waste money on drag radials either. The slicks help with wheel hop too.

What RPM are you shifting at? I know it's hard to know exactly where you shift sometimes, but around where? I could be wrong but seems like you go run up the RPMs higher. Also, you really need to WOT shift (powershift), granny shifting will slow down your time considerably. At least shift from 2-3,3-4, powershifting 1-2 you are more likely to miss the shift (at least that happens to me so I just don't powershift there).

Keep practicing and let us know how you do.

that's not bad.

If you can get a 2.0 60' that should put you in the 12's. Also If you WOT shift all gears or atleast the 1-2 shift, that will help as well.

I cut two tenths by just wot shifting.

I don't think you should be shifting into 4th in the 1/8th with a 6500 rpm revlimit if you're only trapping 90mph. Last time I really made a pass was 2 years ago and with the stock 6250 limiter back then, I was able to trap 97mph in the 1/8th in 3rd gear without hitting the limiter. I did have 26" et streets on the car so that changes the gearing a tad over stock tires but not a huge amount. Considering you have 250 more rpms than I did, the tire size difference should equal out.

Do you happen to know the elevation of the track your racing at? Your MPH and E/T are a little low for a S3 car. The DA of the track might be holding you back. Get the clutch fixed. That can't be helping and like someone above mentioned. Slicks are your friend. Just imagine how much faster you would get down the track if your sixty was a 1.7 instead of a 2.3! You may not want to powershift for fear of breaking something but you could probably shift a little faster also.

Thanks for the tips, I know I need to improve my 60' badly and shift faster. However I don't really care to WOT shift. My TOB fork is trashed and the track is 2:30h from where I live.

You can notice in the video that I shift into 1st once the yellows start to light up or else the car creeps forward (Heck I need to do that everytime I stop).

Here's the video's timslip along with my fastest trap's timeslip. Both were with a 175lbs passenger.

video:
2.465 60'
6.452 330'
9.344 1/8 ET
87.05 1/8 MPH
11.786 1000'
13.798 1/4 ET
112.46 1/4 MPH

best trap:
2.390 60'
6.452 330'
9.359 1/8 ET
86.57 1/8 MPH
11.792 1000'
13.791 1/4 ET
116.09 1/4 MPH

Here's where I need you guys to help me understand. (1-2-3-4) best results are in bold.

1/8ET 9.359 9.334 8.940 8.957
1/8MPH 86.57 87.05 90.99 86.60
1/4ET 13.791 13.798 13.331 13.330
1/4MPH 116.09 112.46 115.51 115.33

ET diff. 4.432 4.464 4.391 4.373
MPH diff. 29.52 25.41 24.52 28.73

If I compare the 1/8 to the 1/4, it just dosn't add up. On the 2 first slips, the time between the 1/8 and 1/4 are within 3 hundredth of each other yet the 1st run gained 4 more MPH. That's huge. Why such a big difference? The 1st run also gain 5MPH more then the 3rd run that had the best 1/8 trap (by far) by 5 MPH even though the 3rd run went from 1/8 to 1/4 0.04s faster. How is that even possible?

I truley belive that the 3rd run could have been the best by far but I guess something went wrong in the last 1/8. I just don't know what.

Most cars lose mph the better they hook. Up to a point. Now may I ask why on earth did you let a passenger ride with you his 175lbs is equal to 2 tenths in the 1/4.

If your buddy is willing to help you out and make the 2:30h drive to the track with you, the least you can do is to let him tag along for a couple of runs. The best trap I managed to get was with him in the car, go figue.

1) Get a WOT Box so you can WOT Shift safely without hurting your trans.
2) Slicks
3) More RPM's between shifts

The ownage? Or are you talking about my glasses?

That was some wheel hop for sure.

Yeah, I saw the glasses fly off he dash and started rolling lol. I didn't notice that the first time I watched the vid.

Also when you leave the line how are you doing so? For example, are you revving to 2500rpm or so and attempting to slip the clutch? I haven't quite found the sweet spot for myself just yet. I need to work on the same areas as you pretty much.
