Default 04 1/4 mile time stock 3 weeks of the lot

I just got my 04 srt-4 3 weeks ago, and i love it. I took it to the local drag strip and I was dissapointed in my time. I got a 14.95 @97mph. I was just wondering what the deal could be? the time slips were not given out so i dont know my reaction time. However, i know my tires were hopping pretty good on all my runs. btw it has 800 miles on it

What is your launch technique, and what are your shift points?

for me, the tires didn't get sticky until around 1500 miles...after that they bite like no other.

Like above, how are you launching? I am sure something is wrong there...

Well i am fairly new to a standard vehicle this is my first and i learned on this vehicle. But i tried several diffrent ways of launching. One being @ 1500 rpm's and fairly fastly letting of the clutch, second @ 3000 rpm's with same clutch technique. But the wheel hop just got worse as the rpm's where raised. btw the way i know i got a 14.95 was that i had borrowed a timer from my friend. thanx for the help guys, any more suggestions?

dude you have only been driving a standard for 800 miles....that alone i think is the reason for your time. Just not enough experience. Because you are fairly new to driving a standard don't expect to go out and run times that ppl with years of racing experience are running. Just take it easy and practice all your techniques. You will get faster with time and practice/experience.

well when I first got my SRT 03 stock and took it to the drag strip at Fomoso raceway I used the G-tech and compared it with my time slips. best time I pulled on the G-tech was 14.4 but on the Time slips I had a 13.9. so don't feel bad.
