I started these forums with the full intention of letting the community police itself. Perhaps I was wrong in thinking that people could act mature.
Lately, people have been deliberately wasting my time, and other peoples time and starting threads in the wrong sections to do nothing but stir up trouble.
Even the limited rules that are currently enforced are abused (such as the avatar rule)
Do you think its time to become more strict? Does the majority still like the freedom as it stands, or what? Please vote and let me know how you feel.

Ekool I'd like to become and mod. I feel the freedom is definatly out of hand. I see what fastattack means when he says people flame vendors. I just say today someone call a vendor that is sponsoring the national meet a moron for no apparent reason. I say put the foot down and put it down hard!

Yeah and someones daughter is likely to have my dick in their mouth tonight. Am I supposed to feel bad about that?
I think some slight changes may need to be made....You can have strict rules without being an all out forum nazi...i have been on alot of boards and moderated a few and most have more rules and less freedom than this one
I say keep the freedom and let people go as they please, BUT thats not to say everyone needs to use fuck every other word, or call people retarded names (although some are creative and funny).
If any situation turns into an online battle of who can call who the most curse words/names, I say give them a warning to stop and if they continue, ban them.
Im guilty of arguing on these forums, although I argue points rather than opinions, but I would stop altogether, or at least keep the discussion differences moderate and to a minimum at all times, whichever you feel would be more appropriate.
You are never going to avoid an argument, in life or online. Some people ask questions about things they may not know, then someone rags on them as if they were an idiot; or some think they know it all and get challenged by others who think they know it all, etc .
either way there is always going to be some form a disagreement, but it doesnt necessarily need to get out of hand like some discussions do.
let the people police themselves. come on, what's the big deal anyways people. just keep SOT where that's, the rest is all good. you guys need to quit crying about all the little things. what do you do if something offends you on TV? call your mom, police, NO you change the channel

A forum about the SRT-4 should be just that.... The problem with the thinking above is that is exactly what is happening. The people who know what they are talking about, the people who want to learn what those people are talking about, and the people who can show some respect to people even though they may not agree with them *ARE* changing the channel. What they are leaving behind is a romper room for 14 yr old kids who can't find porn anyplace else....

Yeah definitely more rules, only focused towards certain areas. Avatars and signatures are getting out of hand, I can't read this site when I go to the library for fear someone will think I'm looking at porn because of people's avatars and sigs. Keep profanity but I think regulation of the members should increase too. Some people are here purely to start shit and they should be banned IMO. Too many people jump people's cases too quickly, I know stuff like that is hard to control but it sucks when someone posts something totally innocous and twenty people slam him for something or other. Freedom is great but when the content of the site starts to suffer and the older, wiser guys are getting chased away then I think it's time for things to change.
Freedom comes at a cost of having to tolerate people, opinions, and things that you don't like. Freedom in the sense of this site, goes along with sensorship. No matter where you go, or what you do, there will ALWAYS be something you don't share the same opinion on.
There was an episode of South Park about how if one thing offended someone about Christmas, they cut it out of the town's celebration. All the offensive things from Christmas were taken out of the school play they had the stupidest Christmas play ever.
I agree with bullwinkle's philosophy: If you don't like what's on TV, change the channel.
I agree give moderators the abilty to ban people. Just as long as all the vendors are moderators and they have conflicting interests. Sounds a lot like the Klickitat county commissioners....Being on the planning counsel for gravel and industrial zones and working for Ross Island Rock and gravel.
Thats one of the proplems with the .org...having vendors be able to ban, edit, and delete posts. Moderators should be a nuetral party and not have any "party affiliation." IMO
This is what we posted as some of the rules on our site. Hope it helps. Keep in mind different car and age group ratio. And we enforce these policies.

FORUM MESSAGE GUIDELINES
Please keep threads/posts civil and respectful—remember there’s a human being on the receiving end of every message. More than 5,000 registered members use this site now—male/female/young/old, and from every walk of life. This doesn’t mean you can’t express your own frustrations about stuff like lousy drivers on the road or tall racing tales, but please try to be sensitive to other people’s feelings.
The G35Driver site has zero tolerance for posts and PMs that contain:
- Racial or sexual slurs
- Obscene language or pictures
- Nude pictures
- Fights and whamo...
- Pics, posts and threats where any Weapon is involved, knife, guns, baseball bat etc.
- Rude/insulting/threatening/abusive/degrading language
- Discrimination on the basis of age, sex, race, culture/ethnicity, religion, type of car (you get the picture)

G35Driver site also has zero tolerance for posts or PMs that are considered stalking or harassment by any other member.
If any member feels s/he is being subjected to stalking or harassment, s/he should inform a moderator or administrator through a PM. Appropriate and swift action will be taken to investigate and deal appropriately with any person found to be engaging in harassment or stalking. Action may include the following: stern warning to immediately cease the activity; temporarily freezing the user’s account; permanent banning from the site.
KEEP POST TOPICS WITHIN APPROPRIATE FORUMS
Please be mindful about posting topics in their appropriate forums. Keep the sedan general stuff on the Sedan Forum, coupe on Coupe Forum, Wheels/Brakes/Suspension topics on that forum, car wash/wax/detailing topics on the Detailing Forum, etc.
If every forum degenerates into a mixed bag of topics, it creates difficulty for members searching for posts on particular topics because they have to hop from forum to forum to search. It also creates redundant posts across forums. Mods spend some time moving threads to the appropriate forums, but it’s very time consuming and unnecessary if members simply take a moment to make sure they post in the appropriate forum.
