My friend's Viper is hurt on her heart.
Saturday evening, my friend was on the road testing her top speed with his new differential assembly with 3.73:1 gear set and new aluminum flywheel.
The top speed of her was 305km/h (190.6 mph)
After that run, when he was driving her... everything looked normal.
Next day, she woke up with a noise increasing beyond 3000 rpms.
He followed my advised to take her to the dealer and guess was..
Cylinder #3 was not cutting when the spark plug wire was removed.
After ansiously waiting for Daimler-Chrysler to give their judgment, a specialized tech from theirs was going to come to our dodge dealer to see what the problem was and verify it. Finally, they gave up on that idea and gave authorization to the dealer to go and open the engine....
Guess what....
Cilynder #3 had a spun rod bearing!!!
Car has only 2500 miles
What has amazed us the most, it's the fact they will NOT replace the engine, but instead, they authorized the dealer to fix it!
A new set of metals was authorized
A new complete piston (with rod) was also authorized
Finally, a new crankshaft also was authorized.
What do you think guys? Do you think it will be ok again or it will be giving problems on the future?
My friend is kind of dissapointed as he has always owned modified Corvettes and never had a problem like this
On saturday I will go there and take some pics of her all open.
