Default T56 Trans

I'm not sure if you guys/gals can help, but it's worth a try. I just purchased a 2006 Ram Srt-10. I'm finding that the 4th-5th shift is inconsistent. I can find what should be fifth, but often have to double clutch it or "look around" a bit to find it. I'm pretty sure they came with a t56 tranny, the same 6-speed I have in my z28. In the Camaro it simply pops into place during the same shift. The truck is like new with 6000miles/10000km on it. I have read some posts on here about the dodge diesels having a 4th to 5th problem, but i'm not sure if it is the same tranny. Any Ideas?

Diesel does not use the same trans.

And if its that new, just bring it to the dealer for warranty.

Thanks for the reply. I had the truck shipped up from the US so a warrenty trip means a ferry ride to the States and possibly leaving it there for a few days (at least until the class action law suites get settled). I suppose my local Dodge dealers may have encountered this problem before though. I was just wondering if anyone had heard of this before on these tranny's and if it would be simpler to get it fixed up here.

The transmission itself is a variant of the T-56 you can find in your Camaro or GM's other LS-engine based cars. It's similar, but there are some variations internally. If you have the means to take it in for warranty work over the border, then that would be your best bet right now.

Does it grind, "crunch", or lock you out when you're looking for 5th?
