Convertable Top Leak! FACTORY DEFECT

In short, found HUGE factory defect in my top.

I noticed that my top speaker in between the seats (above the sub) stopped working. Stopped by my local dealer and they ordered me a new one and gave it to me for me to install (I’m an ASE Tech). Installed the speaker and noticed the old one was water damaged, but thought nothing about it.

Now 3 months latter same issue. The only difference was that in the last 7 months I have been letting someone else detail my car every other week. Blaming my detailer (who has detailed all my other little babies since birth and who is meticulous). He said he was shooting the top from the rear with the hose. I had him show me and sure enough there was water dripping in the interior.

Ran my hand through the seam above the window to discover that it goes all the way into the headliner. Thinking that it must have either lost some sort of glue or stitching I reluctantly took my car in to the dealer to have the top checked (after apologizing to my detailer).

Turns out dealer confirmed the issue (the Tech’s were not as gentle as I was with the water hose). I thought they were just going to order another top and replace it (something I did not want to do).

BUT NOOOO. I have to wait until they send a California rep out. Its now week 5 (no worries my car is back home under cover) but this is getting old.

The factory top was not even sewn or sealed from what I can tell.

Any one have this issue?

If not check……

P.S. Being in Hawaii sometimes has its draw back being far away from the mainland!

I just checked and see no visible tears or defects.
My car rarely sees water so it is a nonissue for me. Having said that I feel for you. I would get the zone reps number and see what the issue is!!!!

Does it appear the window is not going up as far as it should, or just wrong angle and not setting on the seal?

Thumbs up

Top is now in at the dealer they are waiting to get a scheduling for install..... i'm kinda holding them up with a date but should just hand them the keys and if anything goes wrong guess I would have a hell of a trade for a coupe!!!

Tonyaf; doesn't appear to have a seal through the top my hand just goes through.

lilturbododge; being in Hawaii we only have a handfull of these cars so finding parts takes a bit. luckly I did not pay close to 80k but the car was still a chunk of change.
