yeh, this is a almost dead thread BUT, later as the photos come out of the r/t we will have a place to put them..yahhhhhh.....shallow huh? ill keep me eyes peeled!!
That was a rumor but could be since there is room in that stock motor.
What I been hearing that the HEMI 5.7 ltr engine production is at its limit in Mexico.
However, if Dodge wants to compete in the sport truck midsize segment against the next Nissan and Toyota, it better come with a 300-plus ponies.
yo, h/d took the words right outta my mouth, imagine worrying over a 4.7 ho, when we should be excited, looking forward to the hemi being unveiled in the dakota!!.........say do you remember......any hub-bub over the 4.7 replacing the 5.9? thinking ......now why would they use smaller displacement, to achieve more power for a truck engine!! that shoulda rose some questions right off the bat....dont know off hand but torque figures must be better on the 4.7.
Eh I doubt the HO will have 300 ponies. Everywhere it's been said it will have "about 250+ horsepwer" No where have they given a definate answer.
I'm guessing it's going to be 270 at the most.....if we're lucky.
The SRT version is really going to be impressive I bet.....of course so will the sticker price.
yah, had heard they might offer a turbo for the 4.7 giving it around 300 h.p......ford did this and they seem to copy each other to sell the vehicle, hey they offer a turbo for the srt4 i think......so why not? why soup up a 4.7 when the hemi is already available, dont make no sense to me!!......i cant seem to get that knife outta my back that makes me very uncomfortable, being they botched up the frame holdup concerning the durango vs. dakota, they are late already, compared to ford and chevy and jap vehicles, they should have fitted right from the beginning ,the hemi ,to the new 05 dakota.....then dec. of 04 we would be getting a dakota r/t hemi instead of 2 versions of the 4.7!! or got the plans retooling design together in case of a hold up. can you imagine only one truck at the chicago auto show? and that being the 05 r/t hemi dakota , or srt........instead of a crew cab version! if i had been ceo i would have covered my ground. they could have offered it as an r/t hemi first....then came out in 06 with the srt version.....which like you said will not be cheep!! if gas prices go sky high this summer....you may never see the hemi in a dakota, they will scrap the whole idea, unless they make them on a limited basis.
