Default Misfiring Dakota

Just bought my Dakota on friday. Truck ran excellent for being a high miler... Washed it good, and underneath the hood and truck would barely start... Thought for sure got soemthing wet, so shamied down the truck and blew air at connections... finally got the truck to run but idles very crappy.. drove it home and CEL came on but went away after higher rpm... only comes back once the truck is idling... Went ahead and changed plug wires because they looked like crap... Truck runs better but still idles rougher than normal and still the CEL at idling RPM's... Bought plugs and may change them right away but anyone else have an idea? By the way its a 5.2L v8.

Pull the distributor cap off and wipe out with towel. Spray wd40 in the cap and reinstall. My 88 ramcharger did the same exact thing.
