Hi newb. GEN 4 (2005) Dakota debuts in Feburary at the Chicago show, all the answeres should be found there.

I believe it will be.....

3.7
4.7 HO
5.7 on R/T

SRT-8 Dakota will be an 06 model.

What will be the difference between R/T and SRT-8? 6.1L Hemi?

I figure either 6.1 (lets hope) or a bumped up 5.7.

But if it follows the trend I'm seeing.....

Magnum R/T = 5.7..........Magnum SRT-8 = 6.1
300C= 5.7.....................300C SRT-8 = 6.1
Hemi Durango = 5.7......Durango SRT-8 = 6.1

Hemi Ram = 5.7............?-SRT-8 Ram = 6.1

No body has given me definate answers to what the powertrains are going to look like.

Guess we'll have to wait for Chicago.

the SRT-8 dakota will be a 5.7L HEMI the R/T will be the 4.7L DOHC engine...you won't be able to get a hemi with out the SRT logo...at first anyways...

The 5.7 Hemi is a bunch of power for a Dakota.
I would be hard pressed to believe they would
put ~340 horses in a mass produced R/T model.
I believe the Hemi will likely be in the Dak SRTs.

See, that doesn't make sense to me.

If what you say is true, that would mean you could either buy a 3.7 V6 or a 4.7 R/T?? Or a 3.7, 4.7, and a 4.7 HO R/T? Even if the R/T is an HO 4.7 the whole concept is still stupid. The HO only has what, 30 more HP?

SRT vehicles are made to perform better than non SRT vehicles.

DCX slammed the Hemi in the Ram, 300C, Magnum, Durango, and those are just the regular models, non of them SRT models.

See what I'm saying?

They'd have to be stupid not to do it the way I HOPE they do it.

3.7
4.7HO <--this is needed to seperate HP #'s between the 6
5.7 R/T
6.1 for the SRT-8

I hope we get our answers in Chicago. They're really gonna piss me off if they don't offer the Hemi. I don't want to wait a WHOLE other year for a Hemi I can easily get in a Ram.

DCX, you read what I'm typing!!??! DAKOTA = HEMI!

Damnit. heh'

Don't forget the Dakota is bigger now, it needs that Hemi power to push it's ass around. Through it in the R/T!

True, I've driven a few 4.7 equipped Daks and Ram, it's nice and all, but after being in a RC Hemi Ram with 17's and the torque sensor mod, WOW. I love the pick up that thing had. I was impressed.

A 4.7 in a Dak is old news, I want a HEMI.

I bought one of the first GEN 3's, my RC Flame Red V6, I was only 16 at the time. Now I'm older and wiser, heh', and I want 1 of thes first Gen 4's....but I'm not going to settle for a 4.7.....if I have to wait a year for a Hemi....I guess that's what I'm gonna have to do.

I've been waiting for the Hemi Dakota for far too long now, it just keeps dragging out.

Question: Will the Dakota retain the club cab or go the SUV way like the RAM?

Regular cab
Extended Cab with 4 doors
Quad Cab

Tho I've yet to see a spy pic of a regular cab, it has to be out there.
