Default SS turbo from pt-performance is good to go.

It is always nice to deal with a vendor that takes the time to answer all your stupid questions without calling you a moron. I wanted to get the ss turbo and ported exhaust manifold for a few years and finally got some extra cash. Thanks to bambi taking out the front clip and intercooler I got it. The insurance company gave me a check to get the front replaced but chrome don't get you home so A little flex bondo and some spray paint and the front end was good to go. I got a nice 4" intercooler , the ssturbo and the Intimidator Exhaust Manifold.

The difference is amazing. Just by looking at it you can see a huge difference. Cutting out the restriction means the exhaust can flow much easier which equals more power. Everyone gets all these fancy down pipes and borla exhaust and then complains that they really did not get any power gain. That is because the biggest restriction is the manifold. Just like putting headers on a v8 the first place to change exhaust is the manifold. Next a 3" o2 pipe, then the 3" down pipe. A 3" down pipe without getting a 3" o2 pipe is kind of stupid as you can not take full advantage of the larger down pipe or bigger exhaust if you are restricted before it gets there.

I have delt with pt-performance for years now and have always been very satisfied with what I got. I needed a gasket today and John put one in an envelope while we were on the phone. How is that for fast?

Anyhow the ss turbo and Intimidator Exhaust Manifold are doing fine. I have stage II, 3" down pipe and O2 pipe and the borla exhaust. a nice big 4" intercooler is also a nice addition.

I am breaking it in slow and leave the turbo toys set at 0 so boost stays under 8 lbs. I must say that It has just as much power as it used to have at the max 3 setting. I can not wait to turn it up and get a time on it but I am sure it will be doing low-mid 13's well over 100mph with stock tires.

Anyhow just thought you all would like to know that I am happy with what I got. Will keep you posted when I get a time.

Low to mid 13's on stock tires? Are you serious? Dude if you don't run a 12 I'd be shocked. I ran 13.7's all day with just a mopar catback and sts on stock tires.... With your mod list you shouldn't have any problem getting into the 12's.

I agree, but if you can't run a 12 with the setup he has...you better go buy the driver mod before you buy any more parts.

Ture but we have seen guys running over 400 WHP run 13's because they don't know who to drive. Big turbo cars and such. Like the old saying goes, "what does a 400 WHP Supra and a 600 WHP Supra have in common??? 13 second time slips.... ".

Thumbs up

John,

I challenge you to put your super 60 trim to the test.....I have heard that it doesn’t make me anymore horsepower when i get it installed with my basic bolt ons with stock injectors ....matter of fact it makes me slower...lol...that’s how stupid you sound saying that the sst v2 when you bolt up doesn’t make a difference....my one buddy that lives here in Tennessee i was talking to him yesterday about his sst v2 and he is currently running 25 lbs of boost and he says it spools quick and better yet it gave him more power…with the break in rules that he had to follow before he could turn up the boost he said he could already feel a difference...now everyone knows when you try to bolt something being a different turbo (meaning bigger) up without getting more fuel to the engine you wont see a huge gain....Now with that being said...John i wish you could do this with all your clients let them have the sst v2 installed and let them see the number difference and also feel the difference....but with my luck you live in a different state.....So what i am trying to say here is that the sst v2 will make you more power if you just directly bolt it right up..But to get it to its highest potential you need to add more fuel…..Come on man THINK about it....the wheel is clipped and its bigger so when you are moving more air you need more fuel...Hell i just like the option John gives you to buy it....Cause when he said that he would even put it on for you i was thinking dollar signs on how much money he just saved you for an install charge if you couldn’t do it yourself....Even though i never bought anything from ptperformance all i hear about them is good things… and even better things to come once they get the s3k up...

Thanks, and yes we are trying to show those that are against this as an option. It's a great option for those that want more power or to lean out the rich condition that comes from the factory set up's.

Is it the best and baddest out there, no. Like you stated in the thread with the Super 60 (which is one bad mofo) you will need "more" to make it perform optimal. Thkns for the support and we will keep on doing what we do.

im not a fan of ptp, but who is to say that this turbo is no good and this one is? what qualification do they have? the numbers are provided with the mods and if you purchase something you have to realize that the numbers that were achived are probably not going to be the numbers they will achive. there are to many variables. good job with the sst and manifold
