My recent experience with PTP. *** Long, but please read ***
First of all, I want to say that I don't like bashing threads. I don't believe people should start up trouble just to start trouble. I have been an active member of this community for five years. I've been through the good times and the bad, see the evolution of the SRT-4 from a concept car to a production vehicle to a single digit red colored sled. I have witnessed epic scams from one time trusted vendors, and have blindly sent off PayPal money to people I don't know to receive parts. Lucily I have never been burned by a scam. I have used this forum to take my car from stock, to finally a 50 trim setup that I've been trying to do for 4 years now.
I do my best to promote any vendor or member that has helped me out, and I try to point out problems to members that are inexperienced so that they can learn from my mistakes.
I have done business with many of the vendors on this form. I have a few of the major player's personal cell phone numbers in my phone book. This is my experience with one of SRTforums' most popular vendor.
I have placed 2 orders for parts through Personal Transport Performance, PTP, in my time on SRTforums. The first part I ordered was the 20 some dollar PCM strap for idiots like me who have broken the clips off of their main harness while trying to wire a piggy back or some other device. I have to say, despite the fact that there was no directions with the part, it has really saved my ass. Without this I would have had to buy a complete harness from a dealer or a wrecked SRT-4 and try to replace it. Which would have been very expensive and very difficult. I found PTP's website easy to navigate, and despite my dislike of USPS as a shipping method, my part arrived promptly and in great condition.
Last week, I was tipped off by another vendor of SRTforums that PTP had a revised version of the popular “Big Oil Filter Kit” on group buy. This kit was supposed to be better than the current product available from another vendor, which I still believe to be true. I was pleasantly surprised by the discounted price of the part and quickly PayPal'ed my $49.99 to get in the first 100 spots of the group buy.
On Friday of last week, 4/18, I worked with my good friend Dustin (Philth is his login on SRTforums) to drop my transmission (again!!) and replace the Clutch Release Lever (aka TOB fork) with a new OEM replacement part that I had ordered form a popular Dodge Dealer that sells parts on this forum. In the process of removing the necessary parts to get to the transmission, we managed to crack the stock cooling block that cools the oil as it enters and/or exits the filter. The is the block that is replaced by the big filter kits. Because I had ordered my big filter kit from PTP and read on the group buy post that it would ship upon receipt of the payment, I did not order a replacement cooling block.
On Monday morning I sent a PM to OrangePTPgirl and ptperformance explaining my situation and asking when the part would ship, as my car is down until I receive the part. I promptly (within 30 mins) received a reply from OrangePTPgirl saying that the Big Filter Kits would ship that day (4/21) and that I would receive a tracking number that afternoon. I did some thinking and research and discovered that PTP is in Washington State and so parts shipping from there via USPS Priority Mail should arrive sometime in the mid to late week. I requested Friday 4/25 off of work and made plans with Philth to go back to where my car was stored to replace the cooling block and some other necessary parts that I had already received from another vendor.
Today, 4/24, I received a PM from OrangePTPgirl that contained the tracking number for my Big Filter Kit order. I looked it up on USPS's website, but was unable to determine when the box was shipped. I posed the question to PTP in their thread about the group buy. I was then told that the parts had shipped yesterday. The delay was caused by their supplier sending 100 of the incorrect oil filter, so they had to hold all the boxes and correct the problem. Was I angry, you bet! Did I express my disapproval and frustration, of course I did. Was I out of line? Maybe that's for everyone else to decide. Of course I believe that I was in the right to post my frustration.
I would quote the comments in the thread, but it has been locked by PTP so the quote button doesn't work any more. But I did save some of the comments and will paste them here.
Because of my anger and frustration with this situation I was promptly issued a PayPal refund in the ammount of $49.99, I was added to Personal Transport Performance's PayPal block list, and threatened by John@PTP that if I ever posted in their form again he'd tell an SRTforums admin to ban me.
I believe this situation was handled extremely poorly by PTP. They should have advised everyone that placed an order for the part that the shipping was delayed due to the incorrect filter. Yes, getting that information would have annoyed me some, but I would not have been sitting here with my thumb in an uncomfortable orifice waiting for parts to arrive that hadn't even shipped yet. Furthermore, shame on PTP for dropping me as a customer because I wasn't happy with a situation.

Both of you have to understand that we didn't know about the problem till Monday, all the parts for kits were here on Tuesday. I had to NDA the parts to me because of the mix up and to be honest with you we are not making a dime on this because of the mix up ($400 for shipping NDA for the filters).
There are some you can make happy and there are others that you can not, both of you are what we call difficult customers and since you want to post up PM's (which should be "PRIVATE") I will never allow you to post in this section. Philth you gave have us a ton of problems with the original GB on this asking for things that I feel were unacceptable but allowed them, not again. Both of you have been given full refunds for your parts if that doens't make you happy, nothing will. Please do not come back into our section because all posts will be deleted from you and admin will be contacted.

You had a problem with this and now we get a negitive thread from you? Is there something that I did to offend you? Did you not want the free parts and your money back? If so I will be more then willing to accept the full payment in return from you for shipping your parts the day after we recieved your payment. Other then that if next day shipping after reciving payment is something that offends you, I don't want you as a customer. It will be impossible to make you a happy customer.
Now I expect to see you state that someone claimed it would ship out on Monday, well with out checking if the payment had cleared we would have never of known what day it was going to ship out. We assumed that you knew the payment had not cleared yet and expected you to know that we wouldn't have shipped it with out having the funds for said parts. I don't go to the store and expect my milk to go out the door with me before I pay, why would you expect that from me?
With all this said I was expecting that a refund in my failure of shipping the day after we reciecved payment would have made you happy, from this thread I can tell that it didn't do it for you. So what could of happened that would have made you a "happy person" with this transaction? At this point I suspect nothing but lets hear what you have to say, thanks.
John, you never answered my question. Did the filter kit ship yesterday like you said? If so, would you like the $50 back? or should I refuse the shipment/send it back?
Yes it shipped and you will have it Saturday or Monday. Really at this point do you think it really matters? I mean I have thread by you any your buddy philth in this section telling me that I need to man up or keep in contact with your over this or that. I still don't see where I went wrong in this but I am sure the haters will be in here soon enough for there opritunity to bash on PTP.
So your payment clears on the 22nd and the parts ship out on the 23rd, you get a refund on the 24th and your not happy. Here are the details.

What needs to be clarified here is the fact that OrangePTPGirl (whom ever she is) answered my request for tracking information and told me that the parts shipped on Monday.
Yes. It is my fault that I mistakingly sent you a PayPal eCheck instead of an instant transfer. however, If she is qualified to answer shipment questions, she should be able to verify that payment has been received.
What part of my narrative ( lol ) don't you understand. I ordered the part before my car went down, and didn't do anything to fix the problem on my car because I was told that my parts had shipped on Monday. Realistically, if they shipped from Washington state on Monday they should have been in Vegas by now. I am in no way blaming PTP for my problems with my car. Its just that I was lead to believe that the parts would arrive in time to repair the car.
So where is the the filter kit? Did it ship already? If that's the case then I want to pay you the money for it. I'm not trying to cheat my way into free parts. I appreciate your attempt to rectify the situation by refunding my money and not canceling the shipment.

I've said it many times now. What's up was a break down in communication between PTP and its customers.
Problems with this situation
Your customers should have been advised that the items were delayed due to the wrong part form the distributor
You need to have your representatives giving accurate information to your customers, or relaying questions from your customers to you for resolution.
I'm not a PTP hater/basher/whatever, I'm just a frustrated customer who was slapped in the face by PTP when I expressed my concern.

Nope. The car is still sitting in the parking lot of Nellis AFB's Auto Hobby shop. I need to find a solution, temporary or otherwise, to get it at least back on my side of town until i get a big filter kit (from either PTP or DCR)

My car has been out of commission for three months waiting on a part from another forum vendor. I understand your situation, but I think you should have given them more of a chance to redeem themself, or at least explain their situation before you publicly slander them.
I've made no mention in 3 months what forum vendor has wronged me. Yes, I know we are two different people and we see things differently, but I really dont see how you gave them a fair chance at rectifying the situation.
Not trying to piss anyone off here, that's just my opinion, take it or leave it. Cause trust me, you dont know frustration until you've made 3 payments on a car that you still can't drive because you're waiting on a part that has missed it's ship date. 3-6 weeks, in my situation with the unnamed vendor, has turned into 10-16 weeks. All the while my car is undrivable.
So with that being said, just remember, it can always be worse.
