So after numerous searches I broke down and called dodge last week and described the ticking noise in my wife's SRT. Service guy pulled up this report posted below so I figured it was a good start. Well after he found out I was going to fix it on my own he will not return my calls and show me where this fricken bracket goes. So does anyone know where the DCP bracket goes (duty cycle purge)?
I was sold that it was the lifters until I was shown this and it states the noise may be misdiagnosed as coming from the engine valve train. I figured as a start it could be a cheaper fix than lifters. Also out of all my searching I haven't seen this brought up, so maybe this will help a few of you out there that have done numerous things without resolution.
Open the hood with the car parked an idling. put your're ear near the PCV valve to see if that's the noise.
If not a noisy PVC and your pretty sure its in the engine and its maybe a lifter/or rocker, take a long piece of metal like a long 3/8 extension and place one end on spot on the VC the other just under your ear lobe, move around a little bit till you find the spot that the noise is the most pronounced.
As for when to replace the PCV I would advise checking the owners manual and use this a guide. Personally for me the replacement of the PCV its a once a year thing and mine is always noisy.
I always felt that they kinda of cheap. I have been waiting for someone to come out with a nice VC setup that included a nice dual catch can setup, a bigger and better machined metal PCV and a bigger fresh air inlet, all using nice AN fittings.
I guess it could be another issue but I have not seen a better idea on why they seem to be so noisy.......maybe mines noisy because of the changed profile/overlap with the aftermarket cams.
Still and all check it out and if you know you have not done it yet replace it.
I got the same thing but it feels like its coming from the injectors.
Injectors will always make noise.
As for the original poster, this is the sound that has plagued me for sometime. I too was told/thought it was the rocker arm.
I will try to get this part at work and install it and see what happens.
This is an interesting breakthrough if this IS what is causing my sound as well as many others.

The car is an 04 srt4 w/ all the supporting 300hp. mods. it has been ticking quietly since we got the car, but now the ticking is loud and annoying. The date on the paper is September 3, 1999 (it says on the first sheet in the post). I have searched the forums and heard 6+ different things and no problem solve and know that alot of ppl. are annoyed with this noise and still have it. I want to put a stop to this. The only problem solve thread I have seen, they said they took it to dodge and now its fixed, no other info. provided. I contacted the guy but haven't heard anything back. So I went to dodge and this is all they told me. Well this and that i can bring it in and they will look it over, lol.

Injectors make noise, but not this much noise. BREAKTHROUGH, YES and HOPE. You can wait to buy the part as i am ready and anxious to try, but I need to know where it goes. Its a moddified bracket so it won't look like the original and there are too many places this can go and don't feel like sitting under the car for days playing wheres waldo.
BTW this is my g/f car and I don't know a whole lot bout the srt4, I learn as I go. I spend most of my time on my own car researching. So bear with me
Turbochic, I was being a little sarcastic when I asked for the date car make and the date of the paper. The SRT-4 was not out till 2003 so the paper and what it describes does not (I think) apply to this car.........this car does not have a duty cycle purge valve.
Again look at doing this:
Open the hood with the car parked and idling, put you're ear near the PCV valve to see if that's the noise. If you suspect this is it because it seems like it remove it while the car is running to see if the noise goes away.

I'm going to see if we do have a DCPV. I did try to listen to the noise from the valve cover with the aforementioned method and didn't hear anything out of the ordinary other then the loud tick. I think it's the rocker arm as I've been told but I'll try to figure something else out.
We don't have a DCP valve (or bracket); that's a 1st gen 2.0L emissions component. And I doubt that it would be a noisy PCV valve. They generally stick or "float" internally when they go bad. My bet is that it's a lash adjuster (lifter). Go to a parts store, buy an automotive stethoscope, and you can pinpoint the source of the noise fairly accurately yourself.
wow, I feel really dumb now. I even commented back saying the date, 1999, knowing the cars didn't come out til 03. WOW, very sorry for this big oversite. So i guess that only leaves the lash adjusters

sorry again for being an idiot
Ah, I was wondering how you missed it. No worries though everyone here has miss interpreted something.
I do think there was a TSB out for the cam caps on some engines that related to valvetrain noise but it was a long time ago so you would really have to hunt through some old archved threads to find it unless some else see's this thread and has it book marked and can share it.
