I dropped my tranny today...and this is what I found. The reason behind my squeak, and the reason why I couldn't get the car into any gear. (here is the link of how it started Clutch/Tranny issue....suggestion)
So....ya. Hasn't been a good week...and now more down time
This clutch has performed flawless, and just because of this freak mishap, I wouldn't stray away from ACT. I spoke with someone when I called ACT in Cali, and they were more than happy to help me out and see what the issue is. The only reason why I posted this thread was to show what may happen as I've had a noise coming from my drivetrain for some time and some say it was normal and others say it wasn't. Apparently, some were having the same noise. So they wanted to see what I found. It could be this, or it could be something totally different.
Despite these matter...I have to give ACT props for building a good product, and sticking by it, and not turning me away when I looked for help!
it's an ACT 6-puck sprung. I have no complaints on this product. and idk if anyone else has ever ran into this. I called ACT and they're going to inspect it to see if it's a manufacture defect.
Now I must say this and I will repeat in my first post. This clutch has performed flawless, and just because of this freak mishap, I wouldn't stray away from ACT. Is it significantly jerky over the stock. AKA does it grab hard when used for everyday driving? I know the recomendation has been made for a DN4-hdss for me it is only appx 70% clamping power over stock and said to have a mild increas to everyday driving comfort.
Just was looking for your toughts since I saw that you had the one I wanted before reality set in to what my ride will only need.

You can def feel and know that you have a HD clutch in there. The only time that I'll have an issue is first gear engagement, you have to give it enough throttle and feather it to not bog out or stall. But other than that, I haven't really had any issue. I do about 30-35 miles a day, plus the times I go to the meets, and normally in the mornings I'm in rush hour traffic. Clutch pedals is a bit stiffer, and after some time, you get used to it and it's nothing.
But it does grab, and if you do upgrade in turbo size, or at the track...you won't regret it. Having the spring hub is an advantage, so stick with that. I know a few other's running the same clutch, and they love it (at least down here in FL).
I say read some more, and get some or input on the different clutches. Obviously this is a non-mod clutch, and in the long run, may be cheaper as you would only have to purchase the disc when it wears out. I read and lurked to see which clutch would suite my needs and I plan to upgrade. Might as well do it right once then do the job twice.
