Not sure if your being sarcastic... but i do want to start learning how to use it and i'll take constructive criticism when i can get it.
Not bad for your first shoot. Tip#1 don't EVER use the built in flash lol. If you are taking picture where you need a flash, get a tripod and use a longer exposure. Join nikonians.org there is a heap of info over on that forum. Hit me up if you ever have any questions.

Now that's the kind of advice i was looking for starting out. Thanks man, i will def. check the nikonians out. I really appreciate the flash comment, kinda weird that the flash kept coming up when i was outside in that bright light.
i was looking on ebay for a while now, and they actually do have a lot of new kits available for around 700 bux that includes a couple lenses, tripod, filters and so forth...
I just ended up goin to best buy in Delaware (where you do not pay sales tax) and picked a new kit up that only came with the 18-55mm VR lens, battery, quick charger, usb cable, cd software. They had a 4GB Scandisk memory card on sale for 25 bux which was awesome, cuz this card is quick as hell and the sales guy said its one of the best. - picked it up for $650
They look good but just seem like they are not sharp enough?
i think its just me.
I think you are right... I was playing around with having only one focus point trying to blur everything around it or in the distance... There are two other modes you can choose that'll keep everything else in focus even the background... I THINK, but i'm not totally sure. Maybe i'll try to take some more that'll keep it sharper, and try the tripod with longer exposures.
